Starch Staples List on the McDougall Website

Postby JOJO1947 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:17 pm

Hi Jeff,

What are the criteria used to determine if a food should be a starch staple please?

Using Cronometer, I looked at the amount of starch in rutabaga and celeriac root, which are on the list, and they seem very low in starch.

Peas are allowed as a non-starchy veggie on the Mary's Mini, but they have more starch than both rutabagas and celeriac.

When foods are compared for starch content, is it the amount of starch in a given weight of food or a given number of calories.

Thanks for your help!

Another question related to the above is "Would celeriac be allowed as a non starchy veggie on the Mary's Mini"? Thanks
