Digestive Enzymes

Hi Jeff,
I had my gallbladder removed about 6 months ago. I'm doing well and seem to be to eat everything OK. I've been taking a pancreatic digestive enzyme with my meals.
Do you think it's a good idea to take enzymes, especially for fat digestion now that my gallbladder is gone? And should I switch to plant enzymes? Which ones and how much?
Thanks,
Gwen

Hi Gwen

Did your MD prescribe the enzymes or are you taking them on your own?

There is no need to take any enzymes after having your gallbladder removed.

What is helpful is to eat a low fat diet and be very careful of dairy products, and any fatty foods. Avoiding alcohol can also be helpful

So for that info, you are in the right place :)

Thanks Jeff.
I don't do dairy or alcohol, so I'm ok there.
I have been eating too much fat the last few months. It is just so nice to be able to eat anything again. Haven't gained any weight though. I'd just lost 90 lbs, over 2 yrs, and that's why the docs said I had so many gallstones. At the end, I couldn't eat much of anything or I'd get an attack. Finally it just had to go........ But it did help me lose the last 30 lbs I needed to. So now I'm normal weight again, and feeling pretty good! :0)
