Hi Jeff.
I just had my bloodwork done and am very pleased with my results. I had my serum folate level checked, and it is >23 (nmol/L?). They told me that >5.9 is normal range.
My question is: when the recommendation for folic acid supplementation to prevent birth defects was formulated, what information was used to create the guideline? Did they find that birth defects were associated with lower blood serum levels? If so, what were the levels?
Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
