Good News, Bad News & The Really Good News

Postby JeffN » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:18 am

The Good News

Later this year, I will be putting up my new website. At the time, the basic structure and framework of it will be up, which won't be that much different than it is now.

The Bad News

When I put the new site up, the old site will go dead along with all my blogs, articles and writings as will most all the links to articles there.

The Really Good News

Over the course of the next year, I will be going through all my writings, interview, videos, etc over the last 30 years, updating and organizing them, and posting them on a somewhat weekly basis. If you sign up at the website, you will get a weekly or bi-weekly update letting you know which articles have been put up with the new links to them.

If you sign up (which is free) and follow along, it will be like taking a course in this way of life.

I just tried to sign up by clicking the link "Website" on Jeff's post. But it didn't work and said the page wasn't available, twice. So I think we have to sign up using the Subscribe button once the NEW website is available.

There *is* a Subscribe page:

http://www.jeffnovick.com/RD/Subscribe.html

but as soon as I put my info in and click I get an error message:

This page isn’t working

app.icontact.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

UPDATE: This is now fixed

I switched subscriber programs and the old one was turned off and the new one goes live when the new site goes up. My bad.

I would highly recommend doing a 301 redirect https://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection which is how you tell Google the change of address for all these articles. This way you won't lose any of the search engine rankings you've earned over the years.
