We had our annual Groundhog Day celebration last week. It was fun! One child is living out of state right now, but she watched it with her room mate and had a good time. My spouse boiled baby red potatoes and steamed asparagus--yummy! I ate a strawberry from the bowl every time I walked by; I made a couple of extra trips because they were so good. We pulled out the bottle of sweet vermouth from last year; one dip of my finger in it gave me enough of the yucky taste for another year. Spouse tried having some over a LOT of ice, but he could not deal with it, either. LOL

Planning on bean soup for dinner tonight. It isn't that cold out, but it sounds good!

Hey, Buns! I don't think I have ever tried a ready-to-cook bean mix, but it sure would be easier than trying to buy little amounts of 16 different beans from the bins at WF! I like the thought of that many beans in one place....

Tonight was lentils soup, the one from the McDougall app. I added quite a bit more pepper--some black, some white, all ground fresh. It was really good. I had purple sweet potato and a biscuit for lunch.

I found a roasted red pepper marina-type sauce at Trader Joes today. No oil!! It was wonderful over boiled red potatoes for dinner. So tasty!

Ruff, just found your new journal. I have to run right now, but I will catch up this evening. So glad to see you here again, though I know it will be short and that weight will be gone in a flash.

Just back from my run.

Actually lm thinking of hanging around this time, partly to help keep me on track but mostly because of the lovely people here.

Also, maybe I can help someone new on their journey. That would be nice.

My middle child is loving being elsewhere, though she is not thrilled about Chicago. Too big for her, I think. Anyway, she will be finished soon and heading out to another college. I am doing well with her gone. She has already been back twice and has another visit planned, so what with Facetime and Skype, it really isn't a big deal. :)

I am making tortilla soup for dinner tonight. Yum! Substitute hominy for the stuff I no longer eat and it is amazingly good!

Mmm, I peeked at your blog...looks delicious, all of it! I want to try that smoky stuff in my next batch of marinara for pasta. It sounds very interesting and i bet it tastes scrumptious!

My youngest has moved to South Korea! They have finally found themself cooking a totally McD diet, though it is out of necessity. I’m okay with that. I got a call this morning about how wonderful the spaghetti with tofu/marinara sauce was. It is true that eating this way is very inexpensive.

Cucumber-tomato salad.
