had to say!! good luck, you can do this!! it grows on you!! I love all my greens, and brown rice!! But it has been a long process for me!! and now it is second nature!
I have lost about 60 lbs and never thought I'd be in the 150s ever again. cured my NAFLD!! Feel great!! Wt loss is so good for the knees and back, ankle, that I know I will never start back to the SAD way of eating again.

I hope that this WOE does grow on me. It's hard everyday right now making the right choices but I'm making them. It helps that I pack a lot of food to go with me. I can just eat from my lunch bag all day,no excuses to go to the corner store to buy junk. I'm feeling more steady energy all day long and can't say that I'm hungry because when I am hungry I have something good to eat already made and easily available. It's just breaking these bad eating habits and mental cravings that 's hard. I'm hanging in.

Today:
pumpkin oatmeal (oatmeal with pumpkin in it)
green tea with fat-free soymilk
apple
whole wheat couscous with mixed vegetables (tomato, mushroom, onion, peas)
salad
clementine orange
Jeff's bean burgers
baked fries
broccoli

Good morning Vanessa40. Thanks. I am having a nice morning so far. I hope that you are too. :)

Pumpkin oatmeal! I was just looking at a recipe for a pumpkin pie smoothie today and thinking how I shouldn't have the almond milk that it called for, and how Dr. McD/ Jeff says it's better to eat our food. But I could put pumpkin in my oatmeal and add pumpkin pie spices! Thanks for the idea!!

Your welcome Blondie.

After work today I had bean burgers again but I had them with smart bacon (vegan but not low-fat) that I had hanging around in the fridge. Then I had baked corn tortillas and cold cereal with fat-free soy milk. Too much processed food today. I feel like I'm starting to slip. Blah.

No, don't let yourself get into that "starting to slip" thinking. You had one slip-one -- chalk it up to experience and start over with the next bite. We all eat things we shouldn't from time to time, just learn from the experience and move on.

So busy this week. No time to sit and real journals or posts. I looking forward to some downtime this weekend.

Last night I had some canned vegetable soup (vegan, no fat) with leftover rice and spinach thrown in.

My hungry husband shared it with me. One thing that I noticed this week is that my husband who doesn't cook much for himself is eating what I am because that's what is available. Glad to know that I am having a good influence on his eating habits at the same time. He is very easy going and seems to enjoy whatever I cook.

Today is a tribute to barley. It's the end of the week, time to go grocery shopping again. This is what I was able to pull together.

Barley with apple and soymilk
Pumpkin barley soup
Salad
Baked beans and barley
Butternut squash
small orange
3 rice cakes
Barley with corn, peas, onion, green pepper
whole wheat bagel (the thin, diet kind) I know it's bread but it's Friday and I'm giving myself a break

Lots of carbs. Maybe I need more veggies. IDK. At least I won't be hungry!

TGIF!

That's great that your husband is willing to try your foods!
I haven't tried barley -- years ago I had it in Campbells soup and didn't think I liked it, but maybe it's different when you make it yourself, or maybe my tastes have changed. I'm finding that I like things now that I wouldn't have seen myself eating in the past!

Blondie,
I like the barley you cook yourself but I don't like it plain. It needs to be dressed up. Mushroom barley soup is my favorite but the pumpkin barley soup I made yesterday was very tasty. Give it a try! I get a lot of my recipes from the fat-free vegan site.

Last night I had a instant cup of McDougall mexican soup reconstituted with 1 cup of boiling water and then poured over a bowl of cooked barley. I also made myself a (small)bowl of baked corn chips. Later on I was still hungry-I should have had more vegetables- so I ate cold cereal with fat-free soymilk.

Not sure what's on the menu today. I need to make some menu plans and get to the grocery store before it snows today.

Sunday's food:
whole wheat hot cereal with apple
potato curry and peas
zucchini slices with hummus
Mary's tofu lasagna with zucchini
broccoli, potato, boca burger
banana
rice cakes

I've been doing pretty good with the exercise. I have been consistently been doing 10 mins. toning with light weights
and 10 mins.aerobic activity. (mostly with dvd's) I hope to increase that soon.
I gave blood at the red cross and was happy to see that my BP went down slightly from my drs. visit a week ago Friday.
