Thanks Deb for coming by. I am training for a 1/2 marathon so I need to be on it and not give up. We, as my family, are all going to do the Rock and Roll in Az. It is in January so need to stay with it and keep going. I have done a 1/2 before so I know it keeps me exercising if I sign up. I need to look and see what I want to do after that one so I will stay with it. =)

Hi Theresa,

How exciting that you are training for a half. What training schedule are you using? In the past when training for a half I have used Hal Higdon's program (available free online), and the one I prefer, which is in Claire Kowalchik's Complete Book of Running for Women.

I have never actually completed a half marathon though I did train and get up to race distance. I am a slower runner, so the "long runs" used to take me 2 or 3 hours. Not sure I want to go there again right now! I am currently just doing 5 miles a day and enjoying that.

Great that your family is doing it with you too.

Hey Teresa -

Hope you don't mind me popping in. I always feel funny posting on someone's journal without being invited.

I have been reading over your daily menus and they look good. There is one small thing that did get my attention. You seem to enjoy more of the starches and starchier veggies (just like me :-D). You might want to add some of the lower calorie density veggies. They will help keep you satisfied and help with the weight loss.

Hi Marla~ I have a friend that is running a training group so I am part of it. We do intervals. I like that kind of training. She plans out the mileage and the where we are going to meet for our weekly run. Then all I have to do is a 3 mile run 2 more times during the week and I am good. I do walk 2 other days during the week with a friend and hike Cowels Mtn with the hubby once a week. So exercise is good!!

Thanks Donna for stopping by. Everyone is welcome to come and visit. I feel that way about my house and my journal. The more the merrier. Most days I have at least 2 cups of greens both for lunch and dinner. So I feel I am good with the less starchy stuff. I always make sure that the veggies are 2/3 to 1/3 of the starch. I have found when I have the most success is when I get enough "protein" I know it sounds weird. But if I don't have at least 1/2 cup beans twice a day I don't loose as well. We are all different! Thanks again for stopping by and I will keep that in mind as I fix my food.

I hear you on the beans. In the beginning I didn't really have them all that often. Now I have a cup almost everyday day.

One of the restaurants by me will make me a hugh veggie salad for lunch. I take a cup of beans in homemade dressing to put into the salad. I get to go out and enjoy time with friends and still have a great healthy meal. And I admit, every now and then it great to have someone else do all that chopping :-D.

Hi Beans~

I don't use anything on my rice. I just eat it plain for Breakfast. Then add veggie and beans to it for lunch. I LOVE rice, so I don't need anything. Training is going well. Walked 3.2 miles today.

Donna~
I am trying to eat more greens and that is a good thing. Yesterday I decided to have a little bit of Ranch Dressing on a salad. Oh, my, gosh that was a mistake. My stomach has hurt all day today!! McDougall revenge for sure!! No more of that. I know it was stupid, but thought it would be ok.

Thanks for both of you visiting. =)

Hi Teresa! I wish I could eat rice & veg plain, I just love either soy sauce or chili on top :) maybe my tastebuds will change as I go... I've decided to try running to, need a new avenue for stress relief, wine & junk food just won't cut it anymore!!

Hope you have a great day!

After I had been completely McD for a while, I had some mayo. We were out at a restaurant and even though I had asked for it without, the kitchen made a mistake. We were with other people so I just quietly ate it thinking a little bit wouldn't hurt. Well was I wrong! Not only did it taste horrible but my stomach was not happy. That taught me a lesson :-D.

Hi all~

I am here! Tons of work so have not had much time to be on here and then there is my training. I am pretty much keeping up with it as well. Today I did not do it, but back at it tomorrow. Tomorrow is a light day for work. Then Friday is busy again. THEN 3 DAYS OFF!!! Whoo hoo!!

September is going to be a lot lighter so should be on here more.

I did see the challenge for September, but I am not going to join it. It already seems to be having a few grumpy in it. I don't need that!! Been there done that before. =)

I am taking it easy as well. I am pretty much doing the regular program right now any ways. With my training my weigh is not moving much. I know after I get really into it the weigh will come off. So I am going to just stay pretty much to myself. Write in my journal, visit both your journals and move on. =) Have a good day tomorrow and we will talk soon. =) Thanks for coming by.
