Hi, Kirk--
Hugs to both you and Jeannette!

I hear you about depleted muscles--I have the same thing, though I'm not overweight, I have been sick with Lyme disease and unable to exercise for a very long time, a couple of years, so my muscles are like water. It is pathetic!

There were lots of good ideas in this thread for exercise, like the chair yoga and other things...a person has to find what works for them. Have you heard about T-Tapp? Teresa Tapp has a workout video that is designed for rehab (people recovering from illness or very overweight) which is really, really helpful to me. I used to do this when I was better, now I am starting again. It's all done in a standing position, with lots and lots of instruction from her about how to do the movements. I think this would be as good or better than the Wii. (If you would like to take a look at it, I'll send you a CD. You can PM or email me with your new address.)

My husband likes the T-Tapp exercises too. He is a bit out of shape and very stiff from crouching over his computer night and day. He says the T-Tapp exercises really make him feel better. Eventually you will build muscle on this program but it's especially good for stretching sore joints.

Eventually you can try Egoscue exercises, this is a cross between yoga and rehab exercises, lots of passive type positions to get your spine and joints aligned. Very, very good program for pain--I used this for hip pain years ago and it was successful. Only thing is, it does require getting down on the floor a bit so you might want to wait until you are more limber, but if you'd like to see his "Pain Free" book let me know and I'll send you my extra copy. Like the McDougall books, I keep extras to share with others because it's that good.

Keep on plugging! You will succeed! I like your positive attitude.

Best wishes,
Anna

I'd rather have that kind of dream than the nightmares that I've been having about twice a month lately. They always wake me up right around 3:30 am, which is half an hour later than when I'm now waking up fully rested and ready to start my day. So, maybe I can wake up before the bad dreams hit!

Or maybe I'm not eating enough potatoes.

Try heavy coats of diaper rash cream. I believe it is zinc oxide. It works.

I've found that showering every morning and putting on medicated Gold Bond Powder helps me a lot with that but when I still get bad I use the diaper rash stuff at night.

hey Kirk,

i took a peak at your journal and think youre doing well! i just wanted to say you inspired me to make curry pea soup and i did and its yummy and i'm especially happy because my dr. wants me to have more "protein" foods in my diet and its been hard. but this is a win for me! so thank you so much for inspiring me.

how did you get the rice to be like oatmeal? i actually love oatmeal but i cant eat it.

thanks again for making my evening. :D sorry i dont usually post here because sometimes i'm worried if i read about everyone losing so much weight it might affect me negatively. but i certainly understand the frustrations and limitations with weight problems even if mine is different.

Hi, Kirk. I hope you heal soon. It will be great when you can get outside and walk; I'm sure you'll feel a lot better.

Cheers!
