Thanks Boots! (hugs)

Dr appt went well! She hooked me up to a 10 minute BP machine. Took 5 readings over 10 mins, the average BP reading was.... 118/86!!! YAY! She said she was happy with it, but maybe I should cut down on salt a bit... She never asked about stress, diet, lifestyle, nothing... Not surprising...I never got a word in about my lifestyle or anything... Oh well, it's fine & she didn't try to prescribe anything so I'm happy.

B- oats & berries
S- banana
L- veggie sushi & miso soup
S- pretzels
D- sourdough bread w/balsamic vin

Not too hungry for dinner yet... Ah well.

Walk: 20 mins

 Kirk, I could blame you, but I do have a 2 yr old to blame as well!

B- oats & berries, 1/2 cup coffee w/silk
S- ww bagel w/toffutti cc, decaf soy mocha
L- bean burrito on ww wrap
D- Amy's no cheese veg pizza, wine & juice

I realize I have to adhere better to this plan. What I am not including is the drink or 2 per night of wine... last night I had baked chips & salsa as well... what is wrong with me? old habits die hard? I can't promote this plan while not following it 100%

Things must change...

back later...

Karen, what I'm not seeing in your menus is something like a big pot of SNAP-type soup or stew. Have you tried making one? It's so easy to just cook up some (frozen) mixed veggies in a can or two of no-salt tomatoes, throw in a bit of (frozen) greens and whatever spices you want, and then serve it over rice or potatoes. Have 2 to 4 cups of that at either lunch or dinner. It just doesn't look like you are eating enough food at all!

Not to be too pushy or anything.....

Frozenveg - your right, and I need more veggies. I will look into the SNAP meals. Can you (or anyone else reading) give me specific examples of SNAP meals you make? I just don't know which veggies & greens to use! Clueless in the kitchen!

Yesterday:
B- toasted sourdough w/ balsamic vin, banana, coffee w/ silk
L- on the road- pb on ww
D- fake chicken tostitos, baked tortillas w/ff refried beans
Wine and beer :(

Today: no clue yet. Will update later.

I have a couple of "usuals."

2 cans of chopped tomatoes, no-salt
2 cups (or more) of frozen mixed veggies (mine are from Costco, but the pretty standard peas, corn, green beans--this has zucchini and summer squash, too)
Fresh onion or dried onion flakes
1 - 3 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 cup frozen greens (spinach, collard, mustard, whatever)
2 - 3 cups brown rice, cooked

Heat the tomatoes in a pot and add the frozen veg and spices. Cook till done - 10 to 15 minutes. Either serve over the rice, or stir it in. I like it both ways. This makes 3 or 4 2-cup servings, and, like any soup or stew, it tastes better after a day, so the leftovers are wonderful to have around, especially since you have a little one around needing your time!

I vary that recipe by substituting a broccoli-cauliflower mix for the other veggies, and I leave out the chili powder and cumin and use oregano and basil.

And that's about it! Every other week, that's my main meal at lunch and dinner!

Then there are those of us who just dont like those Snap meals. You can lose plenty of weight without the addition of those. I eat them once in a while but just dont like them enough to bother with them that often. Must be genetic because I dont think Debbie likes them much either.

But if you like them, go for it!!

Thank you for your input Debbie! Yes I know I am far from perfect. I am not following MWL yet. I am trying to stick to a low fat vegan regular / mostly mcd diet for now... Easing myself in! Not to say this may change tomorrow! I haven't had tempura since May & a coworker brought some in, so I had 1 tiny piece of yam. Not ok on plan I know :duh: & the toffutti cc not on plan, but I use maybe 2 tsp. I will have to stop with the bagels as this is the only spread I like on them...besides, too calorie dense.

I will not buy anymore sourdough... I end up eating too much!

Jan & Debbie are right--I know some folks don't like the SNAP meals. (Some folks (DH) call them "glop!")

But what I was actually trying to get at is that from your posts, it seems like you are sometimes going off-plan because you're just not eating enough! At least from your menus--I look at them and they just look so bare. If that was all I ate, I'd be looking for a little something all the time. So I guess what I really meant to say was, maybe you need to make more food for yourself!

I know!!! Isnt sourdough the best?!?!?! I remember finding out it was okay to eat, I always thought it had a dairy based starter so never had it after going mcd, then I found out it wasnt. Someone stop me :duh:  Especially fresh

I totally understand where youre coming from though. Ive been there and am still there.

Yes I love love love sourdough. I hadn't had it in years as I have only been eating ww. My eating needs tweaks that's for sure!

Thank you FV, you are correct. I am not eating enough, and when I don't eat enough good stuff, I turn to bad food. SNAP meals sound like something I would like! Especially the one you first mentioned. I am going to make one up today to try it out.

Ever add beans or lentils?
