Well, that's it for now.

Good advice, however, I don't mind a party in my mouth so long as I know when the party is over, that's the difficult part 8)

Chili recipe

Postby sigma957 » Tue Feb 15, 2011 4:13 pm

I'm still here, just busy. Still McDougalling.

Yesterday I made some very good cornbread so today I made some chili to go along with it. Just wanted to post the recipe here for future reference.

I chopped up a shallot and some roasted red peppers I had. Sauted them with some minced garlic in some veggie broth. Then I put in the save a lot equivalent of rotel tomatoes, a can of tomato puree, can of black beans and about 1/2 cup frozen corn. Put in some red pepper flakes, lots of chili powder, some cumin and oregano, dash of black pepper and some dried cilantro flakes. Oh and a dash of cayenne. No salsa today in the chili. Then I mixed up some masa harina (corn flour) with water and put it in to thicken. It's spicy, thick enough for a short wooden spoon to stand up in the middle. Yum!

hi and good luck with you plan... you are doing great!!
I enjoy reading other people's journal for inspiration too. I need it a lot, to not cheat or go off plan for too much... Very few people will understand how we McD's eat, that is why I love this forum!!
I have lost about 60 lbs and never thought I'd be in the 150s ever again. cured my NAFLD!! Feel great!! Wt loss is so good for the knees and back, ankle, that I know I will never start back to the SAD way of eating again.

Addons for Tuesday Sept 6:

at work, was hungry about 3 hours after dinner, had 1/2 ou of raisins. After dinner at home, had about a cup of watermelon.

A 100% McDougall Day!!!!!!   :D :D :D :-D :-D :-D :-) :-) :-)

For tomorrow's lunch, I will have leftover brown rice and my snap meal. However, I don't usually like eating things more than twice in a row. The Snap came out to 3 servings, so one is in the freezer in a labeled bag so I can pull it out when I don't have time to cook.

Stomach issues

Postby sigma957 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:54 pm

Today once I got to work, my stomach was slightly upset. I am miserable whenever that happens.

Now, back in the day, before I had diabetes, my stomach would feel bad and if I ate something, pretty much anything actually, I would feel better. Now, I am trying to not do that.

I took some alka seltzer, put fans on me to stay cool, and I slowly felt better. I think the stomach issue was partly the heat and partly my metformin.

My snap meal from last night, was too sweet. I didn't have enough diced tomatoes and I needed more. So I put in a can of tomato sauce. Too sweet. I put a little salt on it at lunch and it was better. I did go shopping before work and bought more salt free diced tomatoes. Hoping the longevity soup turns out better!

I'll post again later with the final tally.

Okay, came home last night tired. Didn't cook and didn't eat anything, just went to bed. Made the longevity soup for lunch today.

Still not feeling good. May be the new WOE. We'll see.

I'll post today's food a bit later.
