How does one delete one's own post in a thread?

I've sometimes wanted to delete posting that I've made. How does one do that?

Usually you can hit the "X" button at the bottom right-hand corner next to the red exclamation point and delete what you wrote, but if there are any replies, the "X" won't appear and it can't be deleted. In that case, you hit Edit and just delete what you wrote, and if it won't let you leave the message blank, put an X, write "deleted" or whatever you want.
