What's best for weight loss for obese

Postby forgood » Fri Aug 10, 2018 7:41 pm

Keep reading articles about using free weights, weight lifting is best. But I'm obese, so I have been doing mostly cardio at gym 30-45 minutes, and use the circuit weights 20 minutes, walk everywhere too (cause no car).

Should I get into weight lifting, like free weights? I got some books on it, but it still intimidates me, how do I know if I am doing it right?

I would suggest that you also look at simple ordinary ways you can find more activity in your daily life - things as simple as. - chop your veggies with a knife instead of a food processor; mix things up with a spoon or a whisk instead of an electric mixer, carry your groceries out to the car instead of using the cart, just adding more activity into your normal life will make a difference. Think of it in terms of adding activity and not just what you do at the gym. It all counts!

One more thought - if you have access to a pool - anything you do in the water would be great exercise for you - water walking is easy on the joints and the additional resistance of the water makes it great exercise.

Just my .02.

You can't out exercise a bad diet. Address the diet and do any exercise that you will continue long term.
