I ran my 10k yesterday. It went better than expected.
My heart rate monitor was acting goofy - so I ran hotter than planned. I came in last - but I got a second place medal - there were only two people in my age group.
I have done something everyday in October. I was so used to getting 10000 steps on my pedometer that the days I bike or swim I get disappointed that I don't have 10000 steps. But I am trying not to overdo it on the non running days.
Actually the running thing is kind of funny - I run/walk. I mostly walk since it only takes about 30 seconds for my heart rate to increase and I am working on keeping the heart rate low to develop my aerobic capacity.
This method has also taken care of most of the aches and potential injuries I seemed to be flirting with while learning to run.
I am in training the next two weeks - so my activity will be scaled back. My goals are to run 3x a week - two short 40 minute sessions - and my long runs.
I had hope to get up to 10 miles before the half marathon - but that doesn't look likely - but since I run/walk - I will probably be walking most of it.
