Just getting in a little self pat on the back. I completed my half marathon on Saturday in 3 hr 17 min. I was hoping to do a little better. But I walked a fair amount of it.

Most of October was pretty balanced with activity.

I'm going to continue with the run/walking every other day. But drop the long runs down to max at 6 miles - maybe? I haven't actually figured out a strategy. I'd really like to get down to a 13 minute mile - and keep the running injury/stress free. Just not sure how to pull that off.

1/1/19 Still maintaining - 134.8/21.11

3 years staying on plan is the goal.

VictW

About 5 years ago I trained and walked a marathon and 2 halfs. I did this with the help of the Little Rock Marathon training group. They walk/run all year and have a walking and a running coach (Tom and Hobbit are great if anyone is in the area-and the group is free!). The off season training is just what you described- walking or running (or a combo) 3 miles 3-5 times per week and one 6 mile long run a week and at least one off or active rest day a week. It worked great to help me lose 140 pounds until I stopped training with them (decided to sleep in on Saturday mornings) and then stopped eating well.

Congrats on your half marathon- you finished and that is always the goal. Good luck on your post marathon training.

Congrats, Vic! That is awesome! I can't envision myself ever running, but I suppose a skinny me might try it some day! :D

I'm keeping track of my November exercise on my food log for Mike Teehan's Holiday Excursion, but feel free to start another thread for November if you'd like.
