Today marks 5 months on the Starch Solution. I have lost 67 Lbs I have around 25 to 30 to go that will get me to around 185LBS ( I'm 6' tall) my cholestrol is still at 120, LDL is 66 and HDL 26. I am not really concerned about the HDL. I have no desire to eat meat and dairy anymore and my hip pain is gone..Thanks Dr. McDougil. :-D

Please do share details on how you started on this diet. What worked, what did not etc.

So great to hear! I'm curious, what allowed you to be so successful?

I started researching healthy eating for several months before starting this lifestyle change. I ignored most of what you see as "healthy eating" information and stuck with scientifically based solid information. This led me to " The starch solution" and other doctors like Esseltyn and Fuhrman. I believe I have been 98% compliant. " sometimes food labels will fool you". I believe that when people say that a plant based diet doesn't work they are not fully compliant. Stick to the basics, avoid packaged food items and go for the Potatoes, beans lentils rice and some fruit, then give it time. I abused my body for many years by feeding it harmful substances. I told myself I would give it a full year. I am now approaching 6 months and after losing 67 Lbs have around 25 or 30 to go. My health has improved by every measure. This lifestyle has been an easy change for me... I won't eat animals again and don't miss it. Hope this help! :)

Thanks for the details. People make it unnecessarily complicated. The basic tenets are quite simple.
