25 pound milestone

Postby Werner1950 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 5:59 am

Woohoo! There is 25 pounds less of me this morning! I am 62 years of age and I have not seen this weight since I was 35. My clothes are getting way too baggy.

I actually started losing weight due to an enforced vegetable juice fst, because it was the only way I could get nutrients without a great deal of pain. I assumed it was my gall bladder. After that week of fasting, I found this website, started "devouring" the science behind going Vegan a la McDougall, and the rest is history.

Never before did I think I had the will power to do something like this, but it is true. Taste buds change and desires change. Both my wife and I are no longer attracted to meat, and now the smell of something frying in oil is a turn off..

Thank you all for your inspiring stories. A large part of maintaining this course is the sense of community and the encouragement I get from checking in on this discussion board regularly... and in case Dr McDougall reads this forum, thank you, Doctor!

Oh, and btw, it wasn't the gall bladder after all that gave me the pain that first week. We still do not know what the source of that pain was. I have yet to undergo further tests, but the pain is gone.. it may have been an ulcer that has healed.

In scanning the subject headers, I saw "25 pound millstone". Talk about a Freudian slip of the optics...

Not sure if I can call it a cure yet. I will still be going to the doctor to get some scopes done, to be on the safe side.
