Succes with Changing Cholesterol through Diet

Postby VAKB » Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:16 am

I am a 38 year old male. I started eating the McDougall diet after receiving high cholesterol level numbers in a check-up back in April 2012. I had another check-up last week (August 2013) and the results were dramatic. Total cholesterol dropped from 255 to 153, LDL dropped from 170 to 95, HDL decreased from 58 to 40, and triglycerides dropped from 98 to 90.

The doctor I saw was looking to put me on medication last year. The nurse practitioner I saw today recommended more exercise and red wine to increase the HDL, but I am not worried about the HDL number thanks to all information that is found here. Thank you all for sharing your stories. It has helped me stick with it. :D

excellent. you should be very proud of yourself!
There is no need to worry about your HDL. If your LDL goes down thanks to McDougalling, your HDL will, too, and that's o.k.
HDL is primarily there to transport the LDL for processing. If LDL low, why bother w/ high HDL?
