Almost two years into my plant based diet and...

Postby Veggiesaurus » Thu May 23, 2013 6:37 pm

I couldnt be more satisfied with the results. I had low blood iron levels before and during my time as a vegetarian, but only when I adopted a 100% plant based diet did those issues take care of themselves. My skin and my acne is much better and best of all, my year round allergies are non existent.

Sure, I had to acquire some new tastes to certain things, but my journey has been a great one and I am happy to live by example and keep this up as I've never felt better :-D

Good for you!

My skin is better, too, following this way of living

Nope, not unless I find myself on those dreaded "desserted islands" everyone keeps suggesting might

Yes, why do people keep going on about "would you eat animal foods if your life depended on it" and "what if you found yourself on a deserted island and had to eat fish to survive?"

Ummm....yes I would eat animal foods if my life depended on it! I would even try fishing but am not at all sure of my skills in that area. I caught a crab once, or maybe it would be fairer to say the crab caught me!

Standard emergency planning, suitable for hurricanes, earthquakes and desert islands.....

You do the best you can, in the circumstances you find yourself, with the resources you have available to you at the time.

So that's what I say to people now when they start on that old thorny chestnut.

Hmmm, the grammarian in me wonders if a desserted island is one that is full of pies, cakes and twinkies?

Of course a deserted island is one that is abandoned or foresaken.

Oh, yeah, I am not just the food police, I am the grammar police now too! :)

Veggiesaurus,

I noticed in your post that you had issues with low blood iron, I was just diagnosed with anemia and was wondering if there were specific plants that boosted your iron levels. I've increased my green leafy veggies and have added ground flax, don't know if that is enough. :)
