Found my food/med journal from when I started this

First breakfast. Rip's big bowl. 1 cup of mixed "approved" cereal, 1/2 cup blueberries, half a banana, some raisins and almond milk.

6 units of Apidra insulin and 1000 mg metformin. 3 hours later I was 209 and questioning if this would work.

Next day same breakfast but bumped up my insulin to 9 units, and the result was 170, 3.5 hours later.

It slowly dropped and now 3 months later when I have the big bowl I use an entire banana, a cup of blueberries, and a lot of raisins. I'll also add blackberries if I have fresh ones in addition to the other fruit already on there.

If my morning blood test is under 100 I use NO insulin, and if it is over 100 I use 1 unit. Also my metformin has been cut in half. 2.5 hours after eating I'm between 109 to 120 depending on how active I am.

Also my long lasting insulin has been cut from 40 units to 12.

When I have my "bucket o' oatmeal" my numbers are even better. The cold cereal is on treat days.

Great!

It's further down the road now. I no longer ever use insulin in the morning. And dropped Metformin entirely months ago. My long lasting (levemir) insulin is at 8 units now, and I wake up with sub 100 sugars, and 2 hours later I'm often under 100 on my meter. I suspect it's time to drop down on the Levemir insulin again based on those numbers.

This really does work! I can't imagine ever going back.
