Off ALL medication

Postby Karen58 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 11:23 am

I am just so excited. This WOE really does work for me. .

The setting...
Previously, my unmedicated Blood Pressure was something like ~ 230/130
Medicated (2x/day) it was ~150/90
I have white coat syndrome
I feel I am under significant stress right now
I am in significant pain. Enough for the NP to prescribe 30 vicoden today when I went in.
I stopped my BP meds a couple of weeks ago because of light headedness with 'sudden' motion.
In mid-May, we began working towards changing our WOE to the McDougall plan. I would say by mid to late June we were and have been 100% compliant.

The result?
Today's unmedicated BP? 122/74

She took me off both my BP and cholesterol meds with the condition I get my cholesterol tested next week. She believes that with the drastic reduction in my BP, the fact that I was on a low dose statin for cholesterol, and the fact that I have lost 25 lbs, that my cholesterol is fine.

So, in 4-5 months, I have come off ALL medication (including my anti-depressant because I didn't feel I needed it anymore) and have lost 25 lbs. (I have a lot more to lose but it will happen)

Now, as for my husband he has lost 43lbs (228 to 185, 6' tall). He goes next week for his physical so we'll see then what his numbers look like. Neither of us can wait!

Does it get any better? Truthfully, I am stunned and thrilled. This WOE really works for me. I am so thankful to have finally found something I can easily live with and has restored my health.

ETA: So as not to be misleading, the pain I am experiencing is from and assault not a disease of any sort. So, aside from weight all of my [known] medical conditions have been corrected by changing my WOE to this way.

Also, I am active in another small community of women and have now got 3 other people eating this way and truly loving it! :D Go me!
