Update on my progress

Postby figpiglet » Wed Aug 29, 2012 5:20 pm

I weighed 150 on Aug 1st and plan to weigh again on Sept. 1. I have been losing about 5 lbs a month. Don't quite know what else to add. Just wanted to say it feels good to lose 60 lbs in the last year. My arthritis pain is about 1/10th of what it used to be as well.
Sincerely, Jen

Way to go figpiglet! Your weight loss is a major transformation, but having such a big reduction in arthritis pain must be really wonderful for you.

Thanks you guys. I did weigh on Sept. 1 and now weigh 145.3. The important thing is to make these choices one day at a time and then the rest follows. If I do the right things, I don't have to watch the scale or agonize about whether it will work. Just my 2 cents and good luck to you all.

That is great news, Jen! If you don't mind sharing, I would love to hear the main things you tend to eat. I have arthritis too, and even though I believe in this WOE, I am still allowing my many years of food addicition to control me...

Thanks,
Gina

can I use this in my siggy?

It's my philosophy, because the pounds are NOT falling off real quick, but I know they will, and I'm not worried about it.

To gnadec Gina,

Postby figpiglet » Mon Sep 24, 2012 9:34 am

I tend to eat 6 oz of beans at lunch with 4 oz of potatoes, salad and cooked veg, 6 oz of fruit, and 1/2 oz of nuts/seeds
and for dinner 6 oz tofu or 1 oz nuts or 6 oz beans with 6 oz raw veg, 6 oz cooked veg and 1/2 oz nuts.
I weigh and measure because I too have food addiction and that is what works for me. Some people, like myself, don't eyeball food portions well but the McDougall principles around food choices work. As you can see, I eat a lot of food.
Forgot breakfast. For breakfast I usually eat 1 or 1 1/2 oz puffed grains or 1 oz dry oatmeal cooked with water, 6 oz fruit and 8 oz unsweetened plain soy milk. I also sometimes eat 1 oz nut butter with 6 oz banana and 1 oz dry oatmeal mixed in.
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I haven't been on the computer for a while. Hugs, Jen

Hi Laura, update and also anyone with kids..........

Postby figpiglet » Tue Oct 09, 2012 6:52 pm

As of Oct. 1 I weighed 141.8 so that's 3.2 lbs lost last month. Hi to Laura. I'm glad to see you're still here too. It takes time ;)
Maybe next month I will hit the next "decade" down. I checked the BMI thing and it says I'm not overweight anymore.
I used to weigh 127 after McDougalling the first time around. Since then I have a 7 yr old daughter. Do women need to have a higher goal than pre-pregnancy or not? I'd kind of like to see 125-130 again. Jen
