@amandamechele, don't be hard on yourself, these things happen.
It is much better for all of us that you have been honest, so thank you.

It really isn't all about the number on the scales anyway, it's about how YOU feel.
I've been on diets in the past where I lost heaps of pounds in the first few weeks, but for the first 2 weeks of eating WFPB I lost much less than I typically do. But I didn't care too much, because it makes me FEEL so much better than I had been feeling.
I trust that this WOE works and accept that some weeks the scales won't move much, and other weeks it will.
The important thing to me, is that I FEEL better. And though the scales weren't moving, my clothes were becoming looser.

I've had a better weight loss this week - 5.51 pounds. (Now 236.33kg)
Which makes it 10.58 pounds lost since I started on the 25th October.

Stellar job this week nairnejay. I'm happy to see you having so much success. Keep it up! Judith and I have both had better weeks, but we know the drill. When you fall down, just get right back up.

This week I am grateful to live where I do, because this time of year brings crunchy fall leaves, cool crisp wind and rutabaga...big big bowls of rutabaga. Yum!

Good Monday Morning All!

Yesterday we celebrated a family birthday. My sister-in-law has been dabbling in this way of eating after reading some of the literature. My brother-in-law didn't want a cake this year, so here is what she made:

Image

Pretty fantastic, huh? She also made a soup that was on plan and ordered steamed veggies and tofu. I made baked ponzu oyster mushrooms with asparagus and we topped it off with a whole bunch of brown rice.

Now that's a birthday feast to celebrate!

ImageImage
(Soup was a potato corn chowder topped with shredded kale)
(Minus the tofu, every other dish was MWL approved)

That's a lovely way to celebrate a birthday!
No unhealthy foods in sight, fabulous.

I am still plugging along eating two meals a day of brown rice (breakfast with banana, lunch with vegetables).
I had steamed potato with chilli beans, fresh salsa and shredded lettuce for dinner last night.
I was inspired down this path partly because of Andrew Taylor (Spud Fit) - I figure if he can survive on potatoes for a year then I can do well on rice, beans and veg!
I used to love potatoes but not so much anymore. I think I prefer rice.
My favourite shirt is becoming rather loose and I'm going to have to donate it as if I'm not careful the neckline drops rather lower than is modest! I have to keep adjusting it all the time and it's no good when I have my baby on my hip as she tends to pull it down!

Nairnejay,
It's lovely to hear how well you are doing. Loose shirts mean new shirts soon. :)
Isn't Andrew Taylor from your side of the world? (I'm in Canada) Has there been much media coverage of his challenge in the popular media?
Keep up the great work!

Yes Andrew Taylor is from over here, he lives in a different state but not too far.
I've seen him popping up on the morning news shows, as well as the evening 'current affairs' shows.
Recently there was some news that there's a potato shortage due to flooding, and of course they approached him to weigh in on that too! (No he and his growing legion aren't eating them ALL up)
Good thing I prefer rice.

Today I went to the YMCA and used their special body measuring machine.
The last time I used it was in May. I know I put on weight over winter but I'm now lower than I was in May, plus my body fat % is down slightly, and my blood pressure is improved too.
Not too bad, considering I've undone 5 months of damage in just over 3 weeks.
Now I just need to undo a decade's worth of damage... ;)

The above post makes much more sense when it is posted on the right day (I thought I had saved it to drafts yesterday...apparently not). :P

I am down 1.5 pounds for the week. Woo hoo!

Heighest Weight: 237 lbs
Current Weight: 142 lbs
Goal 1: BMI 24.9: 129.5
Goal 2: BMI 22: 115
Week of 12/11/16-18/11/16: -1.5 lbs

nairnejay - That's wonderful news regarding your blood pressure and body fat percentage. I forgot that you are entering into a warmer time of year, how lovely. It's starting to get cold up where I am and soon my outdoor walks will be done until the spring.I'm not a huge fan of the treadmill, so I may walk the stairs in my building. Do you have a YMCA membership?

Over the last two weeks I am up 2.3 pounds(+2.3). I'm not going to give any excuses, but I will offer my apologies for bringing down the group totals. I'll continue on next week. Thanks for suffering me through these tough weigh-ins.

Congratulations to all the losers. Hope everybody has a great week.

I missed last week and I'm late this week.
I had a complete loss of diet control the week-before-last and I'm still recovering.
I had a very difficult week at work that week, very emotional.
I ate a large chocolate strawberry cupcake from Prairie Girl - loaded with butter, cream and sugar. The icing was so sugary sweet I didn't like it, but ate it anyway - I think it was a cream cheese icing. (regret the dairy)
Then I ate regular vegan Asian food with oil, had too much noodles, tofu and avocado. I ate bread and muffins. I did this for a week. My desire to lose weight went right out the door and couldn't face being disciplined.
Long story short, I feel better now and not overwhelmed with everything.

Naturally, my weight went right up, sigh, but recovering now....

start weight 285, current weight 227.4, goal weight 140
44 weeks on plan
week 42 was 226.2
week 43 gained 2.2 lbs, went up to 228.4
week 44 lost 1 lb, now 227.4
total loss 57.6 lbs
height 5'5", age 61
:)

Thanks for checking in everyone. I'm pleased to hear from each of you.
I'm hoping to try and get everyone to feel okay about coming back, no matter how the week went. Some weeks are going to go better than others, some months too.

This week I am grateful for people who work in the service of others. Their generousity creates a rising tide that lifts all boats.

Mark - No apologies necessary here! I'm glad you keep coming back.

Janeykhan - I'm so glad you are feeling better now, and managed to pull yourself out of the pleasure trap so quickly. I am in awe of that (seriously). It is such a slippery slope. If you missed it, Dr Lisle's webinar from this week would be just the right thing for you to watch. Chef AJ also posted another talk with him at the Remedy Conference.

Judith - I'll see you tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by.

I made twice baked potato skins last week and thought I'd share the recipe here. They are quite tasty and something that is easy to freeze or eat on the go. I've made them a couple of times now and have decided the key to this recipe is the BBQ sauce that you choose. Just make sure it's a favorite and you will love them...and the more corn the better!
