Up 0.6 this week.
Current weight 237.6 lbs.
I don't think I had a single solid McDougall day this week. I have a lot of bad habits. Need to revisit my goals.

Down 1.4 pounds this week.

I'm glad I switched to comparing weekly averages rather than relying on day-to-day reporting, like before. It's a better representation of my progress.

Well done, Janeykhan. Do you keep a food journal? I find it helpful to notice patterns.

belcimo, don't know if you're looking for ideas, but I find Dr. Lisle's lectures helpful for demonstrating how to set small, manageable goals that lead to long-term results.

I'm a -.2.

I looked good all week and ate out with my kids and the weight went up. That is why I shouldn't eat out. :-)

Have a great week everyone!

I'm up 1.8 this week. Not sure what caused it. I'm not really eating that badly. I have sort of slacked off on that stuff that didi used to call the gimmicks, Sorry everybody. Congratulations to all you losers. I'll try to turn July around this week.

Up 2 lbs this week.
Current weight 239.6.
Need a serious kick in the rear.
Up 8 pounds since March and about 25 since January. At this rate I'll be almost 260 by Xmas! What is happening?! This is NOT ME! I used to enjoy making healthy choices (and kept my weight between 180-185) but have just been so lazy/stressed/exhausted/hungry! I do not like this person, this fat shell that is keeping me a physical and emotional prisoner!

I am up once more, this time a half pound (+0.5). Have no idea what may have caused it this week. I didn't know what caused it last week either. Sorry to reduce the group totals yet again. Hope everybody else had a good week. July has not been very good to me.

Congrats to all you losers. Have a great week.

I'm up 0.1 lbs this week.

In my case, I know what I did wrong: mindless eating of higher calorie-density foods before bed while watching the news. Will have to make it a policy to close the kitchen after dinner, because this caught me two nights. (Terrorism is bad for the world and bad for my waistline. :( )

belcimo, don't know if you'll read this and don't know if you are interested in commentary, but in case you are, a few thoughts: In his webinar yesterday, Dr. Lisle said that we should stop trying to be better people and put our effort on cleaning up our environment. (In previous talks he has shown how, statistically speaking, an environment which makes it easy to do the right thing will trump willpower and personality every time.) Other studies by other psychologists have shown that self-compassion is the fastest way to recovery and trying again.

hazelrah, I hear your frustration in your post. Are you genuinely baffled about why the program isn't working for you? If so, do you want to problem-solve?

Good morning all,

I've put on 1 pound over the last two weeks. However, we were on holidays, travelling and doing amusement parks and culture stuff, so the eating has been a bit on the erratic side. Some places offer wonderful options but at some parks you can only call the menus atrocious. Deep fried, meaty, cheese-free not an option because the cheese is mixed in rather than added on. So my 1 pound is no major tragedy (especially counting on my fingers the amounts of soy chai latte I had at the coffee shops) and I'll try to make a dent before jetting off again to visit family at the end of the month.

Having just finished Doug Lisle's "Pleasure Trap", I can only echo what has been said before. Try and keep your environment clean. You cannot eat what you do not have in the house and more often than not, the trip to the supermarket is either not worth the hassle or, if nothing else, it buys you precious minutes to think again and make better choices. This is simple, but it isn't always easy. Be kind to yourself and think ahead to treats you can actually build into the programme so that you feel there is something to splurge on if you ever need it.

Have a great week,

Kerstin :-D
