February 2016 McDougall Weigh in Group

Postby Debbie » Tue Feb 02, 2016 11:50 pm

It is February, the month of love!! Who's in for February? Who will be following the MWL or the regular Starch Solution?

The weigh in dates for February are the 5th, 12th, 19th, and the 26th.

From Jeff Novick.....

For the newcomer, I collated this from some earlier threads....

Here is a refresher on some guidelines for posting here and participating in our monthly weigh-in thread.

Our weigh in's are on Fridays and you have until 12 PM PST on Saturday to report.

Anyone is welcome to join the weekly weigh in group as long as they follow the McDougall principles. While we recommend the Maximum Weight Loss (MWL) plan, it can be any one of the McDougall program including the MWL plan, the regular McDougall plan, or Mary's Mini's, the Elimination Diet or any of the McDougall plans.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum on the guidelines for the MWL program.

In order to tally the results please submit your results by posting the total pounds you have lost or gained that week. You don't have to share your total weight if you'd rather keep that to yourself. This is an honor system so we take the gain, loss or maintain you give us in order to tally.

If you are a new member and would like to join but don't have a weight to be counted for the week then you will be counted either as a body with a zero starting weight, or when you check in for the weekly weigh in the following week. Large amounts of weight lost over a period of months or weeks, prior to joining the weekly weigh in group, will not be counted towards the weekly total.

If you measure your weight in something other than pounds please convert the measurement to pounds.

All gains will be counted towards the total to encourage weekly participation. Posting is encouraged whether it's a gain, a loss, or a maintain.

You are welcome to share as little or as much as you want on your weight loss journey here in this thread. We encourage members of the group to talk to each other, cheer each other on and set goals together.

This thread is for the mutual support of all who wish to participate.

See you all this Friday and Saturday!"

Thanks for hosting this, Debbie.
I do mostly maximum weight loss, but need to step it up a bit to get rid of the last few pounds I've been struggling with for months.
I did McDougall years ago and got very sloppy. A few years ago I had knee pain and went to a specialist. I thought I had an injury, but he said it was a combo of osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. There wasn't much to do, so he said come see me when you want a new knee. I decided I did not want a new knee and got back with the program. My knee is fine now and I hike and bike and have even run a few 5Ks.

I'm in again. Hoping this month will be better than January. Really found that Vlogger Hannah Howlett's story inspiration (on Facebook posted by Dr. McDougall, I think).

Go February! :)

I'm on the original McDougall Program, closer to the Starch Solution. :)

I ended January at I think it was 168.4, weighed in today at 166.8, which gives me:

-1.6 pounds this week.

Friday February 5th

Weigh in day I lost 1.2 normally I just round the number but I stepped off and back on and it stayed the same. I figured it was a sign because I was complaining I only lost 1 pound a week so I got 1.2 this week.

Yea! Good Luck all!

I’ve been looking forward to today as my ‘kick off’ for being back on track and ending my 6 month binge and weight gain. I’m not MWL, but I don’t think I’ll eat any of my binge foods for a while—even though they might be allowed on Starch Solution. Today I had oats and blueberries for breakfast and rice and beans for lunch. I had a banana when I wanted a snack this morning and an orange this afternoon. Tonight I’ll probably have frozen vegetables on microwaved potatoes. This weekend I might make a red lentil soup and lots of rice to have on hand. I feel really good and am excited about how well today is going.

My starting weight is 197.

Thanks for being here!

I am starting today. Weigh in was 126.5. I am doing MWL. Hope to lose 20 lbs in the next 3 months. Not sure if it's realistic but that's what I am shooting for!

I'm at 0....sigh. At least it wasn't a gain.

Wish my hubby would stop encouraging me to eat off plan. :(
