We go through oatmeal quickly so I keep it in the pantry.

If you are go through it more slowly keep it in the fridge or freezer depending on how long you need to store it.

I go through it quickly, too--I have it daily--so I keep about a pound of it in the cupboard in the original Quaker "drum", but I keep the rest securely in an air-tight and pest-proof container. I agree, though, that if you use it more occasionally, you should keep it in the freezer, to keep the natural fat in the oats from getting rancid.

I buy the huge box from Costco, two large 5lb bags. I store the box in the garage and use a smaller oatmeal container, which holds a half a bag. I just store it in the cupboard....my steel cut oats though are in the freezer cause we dont eat them as fast....
