Here is a refresher on some guidelines for posting here and participating in our monthly weigh-in thread.

There are 4 weigh in days for November, the 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th

Our weigh in's are on Fridays and you have until 12 PM PST on Saturday to report.

Anyone is welcome to join the weekly weigh in group as long as they follow the McDougall principles. While we recommend the Maximum Weight Loss (MWL) plan, it can be any one of the McDougall program including the MWL plan, the regular McDougall plan, or Mary's Mini's, the Elimination Diet or any of the McDougall plans.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum on the guidelines for the MWL program.

In order to tally the results please submit your results by posting the total pounds you have lost or gained that week. You don't have to share your total weight if you'd rather keep that to yourself. This is an honor system so we take the gain, loss or maintain you give us in order to tally.

If you are a new member and would like to join but don't have a weight to be counted for the week then you will be counted either as a body with a zero starting weight, or when you check in for the weekly weigh in the following week. Large amounts of weight lost over a period of months or weeks, prior to joining the weekly weigh in group, will not be counted towards the weekly total.

If you measure your weight in something other than pounds please convert the measurement to pounds.

All gains will be counted towards the total to encourage weekly participation. Posting is encouraged whether it's a gain, a loss, or a maintain.

You are welcome to share as little or as much as you want on your weight loss journey here in this thread. We encourage members of the group to talk to each other, cheer each other on and set goals together.

This thread is for the mutual support of all who wish to participate.

See you all this Friday and Saturday!"

Hi everybody!

I hope your week has been fine. I have been way back to basics and feeling good about it! I especially love having boiled potatoes and sauteed onions as a soup with some low-sodium soy sauce. I make sure that's what I have after my looong commute home--real comfort food. Then I can throw whatever veggies I have from earlier in the day or week (peas, broccoli, greens) for my second helping.

I'm down 1.2 pounds.

Have a great week next week!

Hello everyone,

November 6, 2015 down 1.5 lbs today and for November.

Just a little about myself. I am 68 years young and my husband and I live in SE AZ.
I have been following Dr Fuhrman for about 3.5 years and had done well with that program, lost 55 lbs and had kept it off until this summer when I gained 20 lbs with no real changes other than aftermath of being treated for a flare of my autoimmune disease ( Wegeners Granulomatosis) which is high dose prednisone and infusions of Rituximab this spring....all that led to pseudomonas lung infection ect...but got better and down to 5 MG of prednisone which should have resulted in weight loss but instead it went up. Go figure, anyway I think that I was overdoing the nuts, seeds and avocados and never feeling satisfied. I heard Dr McDougall speak almost two years ago along with Jeff and also Dr Lisle and was very impressed. I had planned to go to True North last January but flared in December and was hospitalized then and again in April so that is still on my wish list. Anyway, I am really enjoying eating all these starches along with greens and feel so much more satisfied. My blood sugar isn't where I would like but I think losing the weight. ..at least 10 lbs and preferably 20 lbs will take care of that issue. I stopped my Januvia this week as I read something Dr M said about those drugs causing weight gain. As long as it doesn't get too high I will stay off it, but monitoring . I am walking 45 minutes every day on my treadmill plus another 30 minutes with my dog. Sorry if this is too much information. Just wanted to introduce myself. :)

Still titrating the Fitbit Aria scale, but based upon the change from last week, I'm calling it 1 pound lost ( -1.0). October was such a terrible month. I put on a couple of pounds in spite of staying pretty close to the plan. Of course the LA trip threw a wrench in everything. It's nice to see November at least starting in the right direction.

Congrats to all us losers. Hope everybody has a great week.

Hi! I'd like to join the November weigh in. I've been a McDougaller for a long time, but recently started the MWL program two weeks ago.

Current weight: 126.2
Highest (non-pregnant) weight: 160
Height: 5'1"

Goal weight: 110

Weight lost this week: 1.3 pounds

I am literally SHOCKED at how effective the MWL program is compared to the regular McDougall program (where I had been maintaining my weight for, well, years). Once I dropped the small amounts of plant fat, the white rice and white pasta, and dry flour products, my weight finally started coming off again. I am SO EXCITED!! :-D :-D

I'd like to rejoin the weigh in group. I was making good progress by checking in once a week and have regained a few pounds since I last participated. It's so good to be reminded that the MMWL really works when you follow the guidelines.

I am down 2 pounds this week. Hooray!

Switching from a very loose McDougall diet to a by-the-books MWL diet was actually easier than I expected it to be. Let's hope week #2 goes just as well. Fingers crossed.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Down 4.2 for the past two weeks. Part of me is surprised it isnt more considering I didnt eat for a full week while in the hospital but my appetite came back with a vengeance this week, so Im happy I still lost.

Has anyone else been going crazy with butternut squash this month? They are so delicious!

I've been splitting them in half length-wise, sprinkling with coarse kosher salt and baking on parchment paper face-down. 350 degrees for 1 hour, and then I have a delicious snack or light meal.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
