Im putting myself at a zero for the week. I may have a gain next week, but Im hopeful its just water. I craved major salt the past couple of days and started my period today with a BANG!! I also worked a lot last week in the hopes of making up some of my lost time while in the hospital and I think I over did it. I also have another slight cold, which if its anything like the last one, will be gone in a day. Then the dog jumped on my belly last night, which he never does, and my belly is sore today. I have a whole week off for Thanksgiving, so I can rest. In any case, Im up almost 4 pounds, but am thinking its just from all that combined. Other than feeling run down and tired, I feel okay.

Great job everyone!! You are all amazing and doing great!

Debbie: So sorry you had a hospital stay - hoping all is perfect now!

It's so wonderful to see all these new folks, and others who I have participated with before on the MWL weigh-in.

And it's great to have Jeff and Star McDougaller's Katy and FrozenVeg giving us tips and even being on the weighin with us.

FrozenVeg - so glad you found a restaurant that works for you and MWL! Wow - more rare than precious jewels! Congrats on the wedding in your family and best of luck on the renovations - a pain but so exciting!

I have been away for a long period - I have fibromyalgia which is a sleep disorder, including bad periods of insomnia. When I am in an insomnia phase - which I have been for months and months - weight loss is not possible for me. It's also really hard to stay out of the craving cycle due to the leptin/gherlin fluctuations that come with sleep deprivation. Anyway, I have gained a ton again.

I am now full back on both McDougall and FODMAPS elimination diet, which is helping in many ways but mostly the sleep - straight McDougall is not sufficient unfortunately. Many fibro people have problems with sugars - not just added sugars but those in foods - the FODMAPS ED allows me to know what my safe foods are likely to be and which can be problematical as far as the culprit sugars go. They have been right as I test each food in three of the categories - I have already completely given up the 4th lactose with McD!

Anyway, doing both these has improved my sleep and weight-loss is occurring again - slowly. If I only could get my aged cats to not wake me up at night. I am in bed 9 hours a night to get 7 - because the cats have me doing drills for them 2 HOURS A NIGHTS. I mentioned this to my wonderful whole-food plant-based supporting doc at Kaiser and she said me too with her cat - we had a shared woe is me session and I almost forgot why I had come to see her :lol: :lol:

I am hope I am ready to be back full on! I will weigh in with you all day after Thanksgiving - boy is that brave :lol:

PS - Thanksgiving is with my family and this year the plan is to go to a really highly lauded restaurant - always in the top 10 each year in the San Francisco Chronicle. The family is thrilled to do this - they are all very skinny foodies - how can I be related??? The menu for Thanksgiving is not posted on their website and will be the same for all attending. I am hoping their are enough veggie sides to get me through - but I doubt as FrozenVeg pointed out that I will be able to foil the oil, but I sure will try!

November 27th lost 0.5 lb :) :) stayed on plan although ate two pieces of pumpkin pie. Hope everyone had a joyful and pleasant Thanksgiving day.

Had a "regular" McDougall Thanksgiving yesterday, which included banana bread pancakes for breakfast (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2009/06/bl ... bread.html), a Thanksgiving Loaf (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2010/11/th ... -loaf.html), fat free mashed potatoes, sauteed greenbeans, mushroom gravy (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2013/12/ve ... gravy.html), and lots of Pineapple Coffee Cake (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2006/07/pi ... -cake.html). I'm super bloated today, struggling with cravings, and I'm up two pounds. My husband is up six! Holy moly! Back on track today, for the most part, but I did just finish off the last 3 slices of pineapple cake. Gah, go away pleasure trap!! :(

Starting weight: 127.5
Today's weight: 124
Weight gained last week (yesterday, lol): 2 pounds

Husband's starting weight: 201
Husband's weight today: 202.8
Weight gained last week: 6 pounds

I ended up with a gain of 1lb. Could still be from the gain last week or Thursday or from having this nasty cold Ive been fighting all week and finally succumbed to on Friday. I had a cold right after I came home from the hospital, but it only lasted a day. I hoped this one would last like that....Nope...but oh well.

I ate pretty good for Thanksgiving. My *most* compliant Thanksgiving is YEARS!! I ate only the foods I brought except dessert where I had what was left from people serving their apple pie and pumpkin log roll....so just a little and even then I didnt eat it all. I brought and ate stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy and pumpkin pie bites. I did try someone carrots but they were truly awful, so I only had 1 or 2, but they were just small cut up baby carrots. But gosh they were gross. LOL I ate no turkey or ham or anything else like that. I had a little push back early on from hubby about not eating off plan....but I told him I refused to be chained to the bathroom and wasnt going to leave being disappointed in myself this year. But overall Im happy with how I did. :D

Lost - 0.8 lbs

This looks like I made it through Thanksgiving OK, but it's deceptive. I went into this week with good weight-loss and gained a bunch of it back on Thanksgiving Day. The family gathered at a restaurant and there was no way to create a vegan option I could eat with my food intolerances. I ended up with their Thanksgiving dinner which was small sides of potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce - with huge portions of turkey. since Dr. McDougall says he has turkey on thanksgiving - I went that way too. I also had my Aunt's pumpkin pie and coffee with cream so it was a huge SAD mess from beginning to end.

But I got back on track and today will cook some meals for the week at home and hope for good results next week :)

Late late late!! Sorry guys. I will do better next month. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! Hope to see you all next month.....weigh in days on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and the 25th....Seeing that is Christmas, Lets make it the 24th AND the 26th and I'll post on the Sunday the 27th to give anyone time that wants to jump in a chance! I will try to remember when it comes time....maybe someone with a better memory than I can remind me?
