JUNE 2015 McDougall Weigh In Group

Postby Debbie » Sun May 31, 2015 10:35 pm

Did I really just write June? Where did this year go already??? By the end of this month, half the year will be gone. In a week I will have a 10 yr old who will be going into 5th grade, a 1st grader and a 3rd grader. sigh. Time just doesnt seem to slow down, only speed up.

I spent 2 weeks ago putting in my veggie garden. Today I fenced it all because, while I love my resident deer, Im tired of feeding her and not us. LOL Today I finished adding stuff, except for lettuces still have to put those in. Cant wait to finally eat from what Ive planted. LOL

That all being said, its June, a new month. A month full of 30 glorious days to eat starch based!! Let's bring it!!

aha! I found what I was looking for. How do I join? And what are the requirements? Daily check in? Just weekly check in? Thanks! I'd love to be included.

Hi all,
keen to participate. 99.4kg this morning. Looking to get down to 94kg in 12 weeks for my 2nd half-ironman. (Does that mean I am technically a full ironman if I complete it?).
Let me know if I need to do anything official to register? Age 42, location: Austria, weaknesses: beer and wine.

Welcome!
Weigh day is Friday or Saturday. Debbie usually puts together the weekly stats Saturday after noon, so post your weight change by then. No need to post your weight if you don't want to, just what you lost or gained that week.

I'm ready to get busy. Count me in. June will be a super busy month for me so I need all the accountability I can get to keep on target.

Welcome!! There really are no requirements or rules to posting here. You can post daily if you wish; actually once upon a time it was a daily thread people used to check in on. We weigh in on Fridays and Saturdays. I typically post the tally around 11am, but be patient with me during the summer as I often get busy doing things.

The only rules are....it MUST be McDougall. So you can follow the regular plan, the 12 day plan, the MWL or a Mary's Mini. Basically the principles taught by Dr. McDougall and Jeff Novick.

If anyone wants to post daily to help with accountability, post meals etc, or just to chit chat, go ahead and post here. It would be fun to see what everyone is eating and get to know more of the members who post here. :)

Today's my first day on the plan, and I weigh 316.6. I am excited to see how things go, especially with my heart medication.

Day 1 (June 1)

254.6 (a .4 gain since the last time I weighed a month ago)
breakfast - nothing - not at all hungry and feeling like I am retaining fluids
yoga - did about 6 minutes of the vid and didn’t care for it; spent an hour looking for a vid I like better - will do that tomorrow
lunch - not really hungry
pool - large pool where you can walk is closed! - small pool is dirty with lots of dead bugs and is COLD. Stayed in the water 10 minutes then OUT
2 pm ate “lunch” - 4 tostados
6 pm ate “dinner” open faced (left over) barbecue seitan sandwich, left over mac & cheeze and beets.
Total food:
133 g lettuce
72 g tomato
200 g black beans
113 g sweet onions
4 baked tostado shells
30 g hamburger bun
130 g seitan barbecue
195 g mac & cheeze
316 g beets

Great to find this group. Have been on McDougall for last 5 months or so with encouraging results but struggling with the last 10kg (about 20pounds) which I am learning are the toughest to lose. I am joining in today weighing in at 87kg and hope to get to 83-84kg by the end of June. Look forward to group discussions.

Looking forward to this group; We recently attended the 3-Day Intensive sessions in Santa Rosa, and enjoyed it immensely.
One of us has been working to live a true Starchivore lifestyle, losing 70 pounds over the last 4 years (with 40 of those in the last year). The other person in this avatar is new to this lifestyle, with a 45 pound loss over the latest 14-15 months. We each hope to continue the effort, targeting another 10-20 pounds loss, over the coming year. Feeling great, and loving the food !!! :O) ;-}

Right now I am a little confused by the site. Guess I will learn it sooner or later.
I have been Vegan for 7-8 years, I am now 74 years old and am cured of my RA. I have learned over the years, the foods that will cause me to flair :crybaby: .
I have no health problems, however I cannot lose weight. I tend to jump between 208 and 205. I have the "Starch" book, and have tried that with no positive results, but am willing to try again.
I really need HELP ! ! !
Thanks
Judy :-D
