Hi everyone,
I am jumping on board...have been vegan for over a year after losing 40 pounds of post-baby weight on Atkins. It worked, but when I started researching to find out why I was shocked and disgusted by what I found out about what eating that way does to your health. As a nurse and natural health advocate, it was a no-brainer to follow what the research says about the healthiest way to eat.
So, I am here for guidance and support...I have struggled with binge eating my whole life and have finally admitted I need a plan of eating and support to stay on track. I am 164 starting out this week, at 5'6''. I am looking to control cravings and binge eating so as to not regain the weight that keeps trying to creep on...and hopefully lose a bit more. Giving up the nuts, seeds and olive oil will be hard, but I'll commit to it and see what happens!

This is hard stuff. I'm only down 0.4 this week:

4/16/2015 212.9
4/23/2015 212.5 (-0.4)

I may have to miss next week because we are flying into Atlanta for a 4 day weekend. So it may be a two week total on May 7 ( May God have mercy on my scale). If so I hope everybody finishes April on a negative note ( weightwise, only, of course).

Congratulations to all US losers!

Lost 1.5 lbs.

It was a good week. This week, I tested white potatoes (for food allergies) which resulted in no additional RA pain. I had potatoes several days in a row in the form of baked oven fries. YUM!!! I also added in strawberries this week. It's a slow process, but it's progress for sure.

Next week I have surgery to correct Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It's been an issue for many years, but has been much worse recently. I'll be glad when I don't have numb hands all the time!

Hope everyone else also had a good week!

Down to 159.8 this morning, that's 3.6 pounds in 4 days! I feel it too, all off my belly. So much for carbs causing water retention and bloat! Clearly not true. I am going away on a business trip next week and am VERY nervous- we eat out 3 meals a day, lots of wine, lost of snacks all day. I will have to bring my own stuff and just treat everything else as non-food. Willpower and determination...

Hi Everyone,
I have been here before. I have decided to recommit to this program. I have been doing most of the week and went down from 170 to 168.5. Yeah!!!
I hope to be able to continue. I am doing a lot more cooking and enjoying the food.
Thanks

Good Saturday morning, fellow MWL McDougallers!

Going slow as I get near to goal weight... but still going. However my weight ranges easily within 2-3 pounds within the week.. and that mystifies me. I don't mean ONE day it's up, for whatever reason, I mean it stays up and then gradually falls toward the end.. I would think I had a weight loss gremlin on the loose in me somewhere.

This has happened the past three weeks. NOT the result of eating out/more salt.. actually when I did that at an Asian restaurant (my favorite for easy McDougall.. brown rice and steamed veggies, sauce on the side please) weight does not go up two days later...

So, mysterious.. but I tell you, sticking with this has taught me more than a few things about why it has been so impossible to lost these pounds before, on the emotional level as well as physical. Glad to be here. Half a pound down this week

Down .2# this week.

Doesn't seem like much, but I went up a pound during the week, got that off plus the .2, so I'll take it. Having some trouble transitioning to summer. My usual evening beans and rice seems too heavy, but rice cakes w. almond butter are not a good option. I know that. I know the rules. Just haven't come up with an alternative yet. See you all in May.

AAAAaah! Wow, spaced the last coupla weeks, didn't weigh in and didn't do very well. I don't know if anybody else on this board is in theatre - but holy moly the time and stress when in the homestretch of a production! Anymess, thankfully the show is up this weekend and then I can get back into a routine. I didn't really do ALL that bad, but this past weekend included some vegan junk food and pad thai with lots of sesame oil. sigh. I'll get on the scale tomorrow to see the bad news, BUT when I did have to be fitted for costumes - they were a size smaller. So, there's that!

Okay...don't fessing up!
