Wow... so glad to see everyone coming INTO this group!! Because it works, it just about cannot fail to work. If we understand it and work it as Dr. McD has laid it out.
For newcomers, if you have not read his book on the MWL way of eating it will both help and motivate you to do that. And in another one of his books, entitled The MacDougall.. Program, the second section is a listing of many chronic conditions that have been eliminated or improved by this way of eating (including the 'regular' MacD program. THAT was very motivating for me. I highly recommend both of them!
My weight loss journey continues to teach me to STICK WITH IT and not focus as much on the scale as on eating until I am satisfied, not FULL, and keeping my proportions correct - half low caloric density veggies. It IS a Starch Solution.. but eating mostly starch, will not work, starch is too calorie dense to allow for weight loss alone, so half and half.

He explains all of this more in the MWL program book.. see that's what I found, that there are mistakes in understanding that really do matter that are resolved by reading the book. My husband joined me in this and is frustrated by slow progress.. AND he is eating starches, clear of all fats, and everything in line except... veggie portions. Too few.
Currently weigh in at loss of a little over 2 lbs in two weeks since I posted here. Sorry, I missed last week but we are tallying monthly so it all gets counted, right? This following loss and gain, loss and gain, gain and gain.. and bouts of frustration that have taught me as I said, stick with it. If I work it, it will work.
Oh, and I increased my green and yellow veggies, which really seems to have made a difference even though I am eating the same amount of starch as before. Metabolism is a mysterious thing. I have not been in this weight range since I was 40, and all other STRONG efforts to lose, have failed for many years... like 20! It's the food.. as Dr. McD says!!!
Welcome to newbies and congrats to us stick-with-its!
