Down 5 lbs.
at the end my first return week. Would have possibly been even more had I not experimented yesterday lunch with the idea that Popeye's green beans and mashed would be only slightly off program. They are not! They are full of salt and oil compared to clean eating. My body fought back with all sorts of whole body achiness and I still hurt. What cheat food can I get at Popeye's - unsweet iced tea! Now need to stay on track and achieve more weight loss next week (weight loss is totally out of my control. adherence to the program is all I can do and we will see how the scale interprets it.)

Down 3.6 lbs this week for a total of 43.9 lbs since 1/4/15.

On a side note, i got a promotion at work yesterday and will be upgrading my normal attire. I went through my closet this morning and found that I can now fit into most of my old dress clothes!!

Down just .4 for the week.

Super hard week, time change exhausted me then my period came, which on its own exhausting, but coupled with that was a nightmare. Eating was great. No excuses just it is what it is. I was up all week, so to actually be down this morning is good.

I'm up 2.7 this week!

3/12/2015 212.9
3/19/2015 215.6 (+2.7)

Not sure why. I was more conscientious than I was during the previous month. But I know there are a lot of factors that go ino it.

Anyway, I apologize for decreasing the group loss. I expect I should be able to contribute next week.

Congrats to all of you who did better!

-Same-

No change this week. Eating a greater variety of vegetables and one whole week without alcohol so I'll take it!

Re: elimination diet

Postby pmcdaniel » Fri Mar 20, 2015 6:05 am

Woo hooo! 1 more pound lost.

It's been a week now on a much narrower diet, (although not strictly an elimination diet) in order to narrow down the foods that might be contributing to Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms. I'm excited to say I feel even better! Not much joint pain except my chronic lower back pain and some hip pain, and I actually went a full day with minimal problems in those areas too! My carpal tunnel syndrome has even improved some. A really odd change is that my eye glass prescription feels too strong. Although I still have dry eyes at night, I've begun to think that even my eye issues are connected to the inflammatory process I've been experiencing.

I spoke with my primary care physician who wanted me to go on a narrower elimination diet that included only rice and lamb, but I just can't do that. I decided to try for a week of sweet potato and rice with only water to drink. That seems overly narrow, but I'm desperate enough to try almost anything (just not meat!) I'll have the ELISA blood work for the usual food allergy suspects, but regardless of the outcome, I plan to also use the trial and error method Dr. McDougall describes and add in a new food each day while keeping a journal on the My Symptoms app.

As you can see, weight loss is definitely a goal here, but my primary goal is to figure out the food sensitivities I've been dealing with for the last year. I hope everyone else had a productive and successful week too.

Down only 1 lb for the week. But at least I'm headed in the right direction.

Found I also needed to restart useing all the strategies than helped before: tracking my food intake, exercise, water, etc. I've been at my "goal" at least twice before, and don't know why this time I thought I could do without them - wishful thinking, maybe? :)

Hi folks, this is my first time here, although I've known about McDougall since the late 1980s and visited his 7-day live-in program in 1996. Since starting on a medication called Remeron / mirtazapine in September I've gained 20 pounds, most of it in the first few weeks. Remeron works great for insomnia and anxiety, but weight gain is a famous side effect. (It seems to be an appetite stimulant.) So I'm back on the MWL plan and exercising after every meal. I've already lost 3 pounds in the last week! I'm looking forward to more outdoor exercise as the weather improves here in northwest Montana.

Yay, finally I lost something. It's been three weeks.

I am down .5 lbs. finally! My body is so good at gaining, and so reluctant to "release" the pounds.

put me down for half a pound!

I am up this week. Not sure how or why, but it is what it is. I was down earlier in the week, then popped up today.

Well, it's been a while I've been plateaued at 180 but today I'm at 178.6 for a loss of 1.4 lbs. Not my lowest ever, but at least on a decline.
I'm just here for the food.
