Woo hooo! 1 more pound lost.
It's been a week now on a much narrower diet, (although not strictly an elimination diet) in order to narrow down the foods that might be contributing to Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms. I'm excited to say I feel even better! Not much joint pain except my chronic lower back pain and some hip pain, and I actually went a full day with minimal problems in those areas too! My carpal tunnel syndrome has even improved some. A really odd change is that my eye glass prescription feels too strong. Although I still have dry eyes at night, I've begun to think that even my eye issues are connected to the inflammatory process I've been experiencing.
I spoke with my primary care physician who wanted me to go on a narrower elimination diet that included only rice and lamb, but I just can't do that. I decided to try for a week of sweet potato and rice with only water to drink. That seems overly narrow, but I'm desperate enough to try almost anything (just not meat!) I'll have the ELISA blood work for the usual food allergy suspects, but regardless of the outcome, I plan to also use the trial and error method Dr. McDougall describes and add in a new food each day while keeping a journal on the My Symptoms app.
As you can see, weight loss is definitely a goal here, but my primary goal is to figure out the food sensitivities I've been dealing with for the last year. I hope everyone else had a productive and successful week too.
