Getting ready for MWL starting Sunday. I'm working on a week's menus and shopping list.

I went to the dietitian today, and she says I'm doing great, and loves the idea of me doing plant-based because it will probably take care of the hypoglycemia.

B: Low-fat crackers and watermelon*
L: Big salad with potatoes, greens, tomatoes, scallions, avocado*, balsamic vinaigrette ; iced tea (unsweetened)
D: Fresh corn, sourdough toast*, marinara sauce*
S: Sweet potato
S2: pickle

Heatwave, so no cooking today. I start MWL tomorrow, so I went and bought a bunch of snacking veggies today, but as soon as it's cool enough, I need to make some starches to have tomorrow unless I want to just stick with today's bean/corn/salsa lunch for the next few days, which is a possibility.

B: Whole-grain toast and fat-free hummus
S: Watermelon
L: Rinsed/drained canned black beans and corn, mixed with salsa
S2: Cherries
D: Partner was having non-veg sandwich & chips and it looked good, so I cut myself a small portion, but I wasn't enjoying it, so I didn't finish it. The cheese and meat tasted really bad to me; I might have lost my taste for it. Will probably need to eat something else later. Might just make a salad.
S3: Had more of the bean/corn/salsa mixture over a measured ounce of chips

Tomorrow starts my MWL. I'm excited!

Idgie, that's so wonderful that your dietitian is supportive of your choice to eat a WFPB diet.

I'm starting MWL today, but for breakfast, the dietitian has me eating a plate of potatoes and then testing my blood every little while so I can see if they are what triggered my hypoglycemia that time. After breakfast, I'll start making sure my plates are at least half low-cal veggies. Hope you all have a good Sunday!

B: O'Brien potatoes "fried" in water with a little Pappy's seasoning
S: Sugar snap peas
L: Lentil soup, salad with balsamic vinegar
S2: Cherries; small salad
S3: Vegetable barley soup
D: "Fried" rice & quinoa with bean sprouts/scallions/tamari/ginger/kimchi (more vegetables than grains); sugar snap peas; fat-free hummus

100% compliant today, woo-hoo!

Took me a while to figure out how to put in a picture. First the picture needs to be online somewhere, so I was posting them to my SparkPeople page, after downloading them to my computer (which was a pain from the phone), and then you click the "Img" button and put the address of the photo between the tags.

Thanks for the tutorial! I don't have any kind of online account. I'd like to cut and paste directly from my computer. I guess that's not allowed.

It won't work if the image is on your computer. It has to be on the web. For me, I just see the address where it's stored on your computer. I really wish we could just upload them, though, too. Much less hassle.

B: O'Brien potatoes and split pea soup. Was groggy and lazy on my day off and didn't make a salad or cut up veggies

L: A few roasted garbanzos, kimchi slaw, and cherries. Definitely made up for the lack of veggies in breakfast, but gave myself a stomachache. I didn't eat all that much, but I think it was either too much fiber at a time, or the cherries just didn't agree with me.

D: Portabella burger. It had a bun, but I took one bite and didn't like the bread, so I threw away the bun and just had the "burger". Not really enough calories to call it a meal, but my stomach was still a little sick, so that's fine.

S: I have to eat something with carbs and fiber before bed (hypoglycemia), so I'm going to eat 1/4 cup of roasted garbanzos if I can, and set my alarm for 2am so I can check my blood sugar, just to be safe. I haven't eaten enough calories today, but it should be fine if I'm careful, and my stomach is not into this whole eating thing right now.

Food plan for today:

B1: Oatmeal & berries
L1: Veg soup, sweet potatoes
S1: Salad
S2: Veg soup
S3: Berries -- changed to roasted garbanzos because I needed to be on the road unexpectedly and they're better as road snacks than frozen berries

fat: 6%
protein: 14%
carbs: 80%

Food eaten not on plan:
A drive-through Diet Pepsi while out on errands. I don't drink much soda, but once in a while I do.

Plan for tomorrow:
B1: Oatmeal & berries
L8: Sweet potatoes and slaw
S5: Hummus & peppers
S1: Salad
S2: Veg soup

Plan for today:
B1: Oatmeal & berries
Wasn't hungry at first snacktime, so I just drank some iced tea instead
L8: Sweet potatoes and slaw
S5: Hummus & peppers
S1: Salad (didn't eat all my snacks today)
S2: Veg soup

fat: 8%
protein: 12%
carbs: 81%

Foods eaten not on plan:

Just the iced tea (unsweetened); not even sure I think of that as off-plan

Changes going forward:

Snack between lunch and dinner should have been eaten sooner; got a blood sugar crash when I forgot to take the snack with me on the errand to take the kid to look at a place to rent and then food shopping. Almost low enough to need my glucose tabs, but I was able to eat soon enough.

Going to try to eat smaller meals two hours apart when possible: 7:30, 9:30, etc. That means 8 small meals a day, but planning that many separate foods is burdensome, so I just plan to eat half of my food at lunch and the other half at snack, and so on. May even decide to just have one snack a day, but we'll see. So far, planning two meals (one repeated) and three snacks a day is working.

Plan for tomorrow:

B1: Oatmeal & melon
L4: Unfried rice
S1: Salad / melon
S2: Veg soup
S5: Hummus & peppers
