doing the math, I am currently at 87% compliance, counting meals for March and April. Not horrible, eh? I needed that, because I've been feeling like an utter failure, thanks to the weekend of indulgence, plus the farm fresh eggs that I've been gobbling up lately. But looking at the big picture, I'm not doing as bad as I thought.

Sacto-bob, years ago, hosted an informal challenge: 30 days unprocessed. I followed it, along with the thread about whether refried beans are processed or not  and FINALLY got below 190. I'm thinking about doing something along those lines for myself. Just set the rule "Nothing Processed" and start following it.

See what happens. I'm pretty unhappy with myself, being unable to stay away from ... stuff ... eggs, white flour products, cravings for salty grease tidbits (tortilla chips that triggered me SO bad yesterday. It was awful. i couldn't turn it off and it bugged me all day long)
What does it freaking take? How do I get to that place of just DOING THIS PLAN without so many stinking hiccups and wanderings...?

:\

After watching/listening to a lecture by Mary McDougall, about meal preparation, it occurred to me stronger than ever, that simple is best. There is nothing on earth wrong with having a bowl of rice with beans for a meal. Which is what i had last night.

Then went to a movie with my daughters, and there was popcorn, and I didn't have any! yay me!

Had a four day "weekend" due to illness. I started feeling it on Wednesday, and started fighting it. Stayed home from work mostly to rest, not because I was deathly ill, and fought it some more (oregano oil is STRONG medicine) and ended up with a mild case of the sniffles. Yay for a healthy bowel and oil of oregano!

Stayed compliant except for going out with my siblings and their spouses and had some Mexican, without cheese but I know it wasn't cooked without oil so that's a  for me on Saturday. But I did good the rest of the time. :)

My mom is going out of town so I'm spending the night and most of tomorrow at her house. Well, I packed an overnight bag, but didn't think to bring my own food. Not sure she'll have any kind of actual ingredients in her house for me to make food. But really, I want something simple. Maybe I'll get a small thing of oatmeal and a couple cans of compliant soup at the store on my way to her place.

I knew I was meeting a friend at Denny's. We haven't had a nice long chat in ages, so I knew I'd be there for a while, and I figured she would order breakfast. SO, I had a huge bowl of oatmeal at home, a little bit later than usual so I wouldn't be hungry at the diner...and then when the coffee came, I wanted something chocolatey with it, and ordered a dessert, without ice cream. The chocolate lava cake. It really was good. I dribbled some coffee in there. Just enough to make it moist on the bottom. It was good. I won't lie.

And this being my friend who has back yard chickens, I took some eggs home and had some with my dinner  Sunday dinner, right? Feast!

For dinner, I didn't want anything that I had in the fridge, so I decided to go out. Costa Vida has a vegetarian salad that is yummy. I had mine with a scoop each of pintos and black beans. Pico makes a terrific salad dressing, and a scoop of guac. Yeah. That's the way to do salad.

We are having a Cinco de Mayo potluck at work today, and I've been planning on this as a "feast day" all week. I brought things compliant to McDougalling, but I also know I'll have a dessert (brownies) or some tortilla chips. Giving myself a feast day, and promising myself not to go overboard.

Meanwhile I had Thai curried rice with eggs over it for dinner last night.

Looking at a pattern here...weekends I seem to slip up pretty regularly. Need to get thinking about that, and adopt a disciplined approach to stopping it.

We have a new vice president of something or other where I work, and there was a little bagel reception for him out in the quad. Very nice and YUMMMMMMY on the bagel! I got a whole wheat one with nothing and it tasted SO good. Just a delicious bread.

woot! 95% compliance in April, with 84 meals, and only eight of those were off plan. (allowing for a "feast day" on Easter...I don't count meals on feast days.)

Yesterday was an unhappy day. Wylie and I had a quick fight in the morning that left me in tears. I ate to clear that up...NOT. But anyway, that emotional turmoil IS why I popped popcorn and ate it.

New favorite snack: grated carrots. They're nibbly, for that classic hand-to-mouth snack action, and they aren't as joltingly crunchy as whole carrots, so they're easier to masticate. And you can buy them grated into a matchstick, rather than "grated" size. I like em. :D

Every single day Breakfast is a very large bowl of Old Fashioned Oatmeal with lots of raisins and cinnamon added.
Lunch is huge baked potato (a pound or more) and steamed broccoli or kale, both plain except for salt.
Supper is huge baked potato with kale.

This is all I ever eat except if I get hungry at night I eat raisin bran with soy milk. I never tire of these things and I eat only these things at restaurants too.
