UK government campaign against obesity

Postby Risto » Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:09 am

The UK government is launching a campaign against obesity, in the light of research that shows that obesity increases the risk of severe illness and death in cases of coronavirus infection. PM Johnson has been dismissive about healthy food in the past, but apparently ending up in intensive care for covid-19 himself while being overweight earlier this year has made some difference.

The new measures will include a ban on advertising of junk food before 9 pm and a ban on "2 for 1" type of discounts. No changes to taxation, apparently.
