Does "reduce their risk of a future heart attack" mean the same as or different from "help them live longer?"

True informed consent would reduce sales, and so will never happen, no matter how many academic studies. The interests of the hospital and the surgeon on one hand, and the patient and the family on the other, are just not remotely aligned. Responsible medicine is not possible under the current system.
