I have an exciting announcement to share, but first wanted to remind you that we are launching our Healing America Campaign in Tampa, FL on January 20 (HealingAmericaTogether.com).

With that said, I would like to announce a partnership we have formed with Glasgow Consulting Group, a world-leading natural and organic food development company (www.glascg.com), to serve as our product development arm, improving our existing products and developing new ones. We are excited to work with Glasgow, not only because of their expertise, but because of the values and mission we share.

Their support will enable us to achieve a long-time dream of ours, which I can hardly believe we can now announce. Glasgow will help develop a line of high quality meals that can be mass produced at low cost for distribution through local partners into underserved neighborhoods. We will do this with no profit mark-up, and will even explore ways of taking payment from folks via their EBT cards. We will waive our profit on this distribution channel and will measure our success by the number of lives we touch in inner city neighborhoods, small rural towns, Native American communities, and wherever else people are facing serious health and financial challenges.

This is our “moonshot project” and it goes to the heart of what our organization is about. We are working hard to generate profit from a core foods business (online and at retailers like Publix Supermarkets), but this money is a means to a higher social end.

This commitment is why we have taken no money to date from venture capital and other investors whose first and sometimes only interest is money and control, relying instead on the contributions of individual ‘social impact’ investors, and our own personal funds. We believe we can generate exciting returns for investors, but do it in a way that is aligned with our social mission.

Simple Joys of Life:

Today I saw a patient of mine in follow up. This is a 73 year old Vietnam era Veteran. I met him in Aug of 2017 in the setting of an acute heart attack. After the usual care, I spent over an hour talking to him and his wife about the vital role food and lifestyle play in preventing future events and reversing disease and overall risk burden. They listened intently and took every word of my suggestion and became Whole Food Plant Based eaters overnight. Today, the patient reported to me that he lost 50 pounds and is no longer using insulin after using it for 8 years. Prior need was 100 units a day. His heart’s pumping capacity has normalized. He has more energy compared to 15 years ago.

Toward the end of our conversation, his wife says, “I lost 71 pounds myself and after a long time, I am able to sit properly and cross my legs.” I wish I had a camera ready, to capture the pure and simple joy on her face as she said those words.
