Question about the potato diet

According to Dr. McDougall you can live by eating nothing but potatoes and sweet potatoes but what about the omega 3 fats? What happens when you don't get any of those omega 3 fats that are supposed to be vital for health?

Both sweet potatoes and potatoes carry some omega 3 and omega 6. Potatoes have .02g per cup of omega 3 and sweet potatoes have .01g per cup.

A potato diet won't kill you, but most people aren't going to try to live on nothing but potatoes for an extended length of time (years and years), and a diet of only potatoes is not the McDougall diet anyway. The McDougall diet is starch-based with some green/yellow vegetables and fruit. The potato-only diet is an extreme variation. That said, if I could only pick one starch, I'd probably go with potato.
You don't have to wait to be happy.
