What will the march accomplish?

Beyond a nice adventure and some light exercise, nothing. Might get to freeze your ass off.

Why would women protest the democratic process anyways? If they don't like it, move to North Korea or Saudi Arabia, where there is no democratic process, and they can have their skulls cracked if they don't accept their plight.

Oh, it's happening. There is no doubt about that. The permit is not in doubt--just the Lincoln Memorial part. Which is, of course, one more attempt on the part of That Creature to abridge the rights of citizens.

It will accomplish what all marches accomplish--making our presence known and our opinions heard. Making it clear that the rights of women, people of color, the LGBTQ population, immigrants, the disabled, etc. are important and that we will not allow the future administration to trample them. Making it clear that WE ARE HERE and WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. And all in pink pussyhats. :-) I'm working on my 3rd right now.

If anyone here knits, please get started! :-)

WE WHO SUPPORT The President-elect of the United States, WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE EITHER.

AMERICANS will be inside, toasting, where it's warm, his presidency. All the snowflakes, the identity politics players, the LBGTQ-L-M-N-O-P, all that can stay out in the cold, where they belong.

That Creature to abridge the rights of citizens.

i am so grateful for this thread because I had purchased a musubi container a long time when vgpedlr had posted Allen Lim style rice cakes. You can buy musubi presses at our local stores. Certain health food stores always used brown rice in a basket by the cash register. Lately I haven't seen them. Though since WF, some of our HF stores have closed.

Our local families make rice balls besides musubi. I have never seen one made with brown rice but i have seen musubi. Of course brown and white rice could be mixed. A piece of asparagus or some veggie can be put on top under the nori/seaweed.

I used brown rice/mixed with namasu (red onion/cucumber/red pepper marinated in rice vinegar) added a pinch of coconut sugar to the mixture for stickiness. The smaller one I used the musubi press one time for the smaller one, the larger one I kept pressing and packing, the round onet the rice mixture was put in the middle of the saran wrap, formed in a ball, and twisted. Tied with green onion stem. Using saran wrap catches what falls away when eating (which is very little). You can then cover the saran wrap with foil to pack or stack without the foil in a plastic container.

Let me start again ETeSelle.

It is not an attempt by President-elect Trump to trample your rights, I checked.

That National Park Service reserved the space months ago before Trump was even elected. Trump has NOTHING to do with it. I doubt Trump cares much about your insignificant march even if he knows about it.

I doubt this information will matter to you but maybe to other readers it will.

Have a nice march. Dress warm.

I often make 2-ingredient cookies with just rolled oats & pumpkin puree (one can of pumpkin puree, 2 cups rolled oats). You can also add 4 oz of applesauce (then I’d make it 2.5 cups oats). Blueberries are a fabulous addition, but a bit messy for travel. Add favorite spices (apple pie/pumpkin pie/vanilla/etc) and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes. They hold together well, and should travel fine in a baggie. They’re a bit more spongy-al dente, but stay tasty for days (if they last that long;).

I might also take along a few baggies of whole-grain cereal like Cheerios or Stoneground Flakes for snacking and sharing.

Those hats are the cutest thing I’ve seen in some time ~ thanks for pointing them out. I participated in one of the women’s gatherings on the mall in DC 20 or so years ago. Took a bus there and back as well. It was moving, inspiring, and energizing. :-)

P.S. Patty, those are works of art.

I am trying to think what was being protested 20 years ago? I did a lot of marching in San Francisco for civil rights. I saw Martin Luther King jr. when i was about 17 at the Cow Palace in SF. And after he was shot, they had a gathering at a Unitarian Church I believe, it was in SF up from Market st. It had a huge circle of people.. and holding my hand was someone wearing a black panther mask. Protesting is a amazing experience. And of course as Dr. McDougall shares we do it daily with what's on our plate.

I have to make some two ingredient cookies today:) And i am grateful for the reminder of this thread for making musubi.. as that is something I can share with my Clients. We are getting more people with the condition of Alzheimer's. And I purchased some OSMO products from Apple to work with them with the iPad.. hopefully it will mentally invigorating. I have so much hope for the healing of the empirical world through the World Wide Web.

Did you watch the moive the 13th? If not I suggest you watch it. In essence it shared slavery and genocide is still happening to African Americans. Marianne Williamson has suggested in "Healing America" that we build a National Wall of Attonement for African Americans. Mexicans, Chinese, Koreans, Latinos and other races arrived in America by their freewill. They weren't taken from their country against their freewill.

I think the picture you posted is inappropriate comparison. Though I appreciate your thoughts. Ho oponopono (I am Sorry, Please Forgive me, Thank You, I Love You!)

Perhaps we can leave the politics for a separate thread?

There are a lot of great suggestions for on plan travel food in this thread. It would be a shame if they got lost in off topic political rambling that turns people off.

Remember, IT'S THE FOOD.

Politics, not so much.

That last post is the perfect explanation of why we cant just ban all political talk. Politics is intertwined with the field of nutrition and health. Both the left and the right see this and hammer the other for it!
It's a crazy world we live in.

How about vegan roasted hotdogs (carrots). This recipe looks good and easy. http://jackienewgent.com/2015/06/vegan_hot_dogs/

SAD musubi usually has a piece of spam on top of the white rice. Then when eating the musubi they turn it upside down where the spam is like a mini plate/with the saran wrap unfolds while eating. I will have to try making with the roasted carrots.

Food politics is one thing. I've been a Marion Nestle fan for a long time, and thoroughly enjoyed her ASW presentation, even though I don't agree with her recommendations. That would definitely one topic for this forum.

What bothers me is the off topic political hijacking of threads like this one. Start a new thread so people can participate where their interests lie, and avoid what upsets them.
