Since the OP did mention something about the research, let's take a look together:

Thank you, all, for your feedback! It is very helpful. We have been eating plant based for 13 years. But we used fish and oils. A few months ago my father was in critical condition with a heart problem. We attended dr. Esselstyn's seminar. Since then, we, as a family, quit using oils and fish. That was the missing link to the successful way of eating healthy. It has been great! The impossible is possible, and my father's condition is clearly reversing!
But I am often asked is it good to eliminate oils from a child's diet. Any thoughts on that?

It's still processed and it's still junk.

Eliminating oils is not the same as eliminating fat. Food as grown has fat, in the proportions that Homo sapiens evolved on for millions of years, up until relatively recently. All foods have some fat -- even oatmeal has a certain percentage of fat (like, what, 12%? I can't remember). Beans and lentils have some fat. Do some research and you will see that humans ingest adequate amounts of fat, without ever going near a stick of butter, or a (vile) canister of Wesson oil. (What were we thinking!)

But I'll leave it at that, because I don't have kids and it doesn't concern me. If you DO have kids, please do what YOU think is right. As for people you know who have kids, feel free to encourage them in the right direction, but ultimately if the parents put oil in things because they don't want to "be too extreme", you and I have no say in the matter.

Just some thoughts, but do some reading and form your own opinion! I just don't think oils are natural! And I'll leave it at that.

Yes, I agree that plant based foods have fats in them naturally. You only confirmed my believes. I do have children. And since stopping the oil, my 4-year old son stopped having colds and chronic nasal congestion.

Why would a child need highly processed, refined, concentrated, and oxidized fat when adults clearly improve by eliminating it?
