What to eat before bed?

Postby Vee » Thu May 26, 2016 10:20 am

Hi,

I eat dinner early and am hungry by the time I go to bed. I am wondering what is a good thing to eat before going to bed? If I don't eat at all, I am hungry and can't sleep. I used to have 2 TBSP of peanut butter but have started to have 3/4 cup of brown rice. I am not overweight but really have to pay attention to what I eat because I do seem to gain weight easily. Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks!

I would just try the rice for a while and see what happens. If you sleep better and don't see any weight gain, then you have no problem.

I usually have a piece of fruit about an hour before bedtime, but that's just me. Do what works for you :).

McDougall cup of soup.
Almond butter on a rice cake.
Instant mashed potatoes.

If I'm still hungry after dinner (I try not to eat after 9pm) I will make a small bowl of cooked oatmeal. It is very soothing and doesn't give me any indigestion etc.

Oats if you're not worried about weight, in your case I'd go for a couple of apples.

1/2 cup dry oatmeal makes 1 serving = 150 cals
2 medium apples @ 95 cals each = 190 cals

If weight is an issue, Oatmeal is the better option plus does not raise triglycerides.

I've never seen or heard from any person, overeating on apples. Oatmeal? Differrent story.

Apples and trigs? Bleh...

Thanks for all the replies! I prefer oats or rice to fruit at night and don't have a problem with overeating. I think I'll try that for a while, in lieu of the peanut butter.
