Cuteness Overload!

Postby TerriNC » Fri Aug 28, 2015 12:03 pm

This isn't diet related, and I apologize. Can't help myself, I had to share. Please delete post if I'm breaking rules too badly.

It's been about 15 years since I was a federally and state licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, but here I am again, with this cute little guy, doing a 10-day foster care. He has a respiratory infection, but after a trip to the vet to get some meds yesterday, he's feeling so much better. 1.7 grams--tiny little guy with a ferocious appetite! Baby squirrel! :-D

He's adorable and so are you! Mind you, he won't be so cute when he's trying to dig through my new roof to build his family a cozy little home but that's for another day. I hope he appreciates the little elephant pattern on his bed linens :-D

I love squirrels. Our siamese cat used to catch baby squirrels and leave them in the bathtub for us to find. When she was tired of playing with them, she just walked away. We would put them back outside.

Is that squirrel plant based? Is that feeding technique part of your PCRM training? :D :D :D

So cute. I remember lots of squirrels back in Michigan when I lived there. Never saw many here in San Diego, but then I did start to notice a bunch in the front landscaping of a nearby hotel. Then they disappeared. Turns out they actual poison them when they increase in numbers around here.

I'm glad you all are loving him too! :)

When I used to do wildlife rehab, we took in everything--over 100 animals a year! Spring and summer was always babies--squirrels, rabbits, opossums, just everything. When I would feed the squirrels, we had so many at one time, I would sit in the floor so the ones that were finished eating could climb all over me to practice their skills while I fed the others. I miss those days!

I only have this little guy for 10 days, then he goes back to grow up, then be released back into his natural environment. Going to enjoy him while I can. ;)

Adorable for sure. I feed many squirrles at my house. They come up to my back door wanting a nut. They are so fun to watch.

What do you feed him? Milk with vitamins or some special mix?

Those claws are some sharp! They must hurt like puppy teeth.

Sorry, I can't help myself. This is what he does after he eats and uses the bathroom. When they are little with their eyes closed, you have to use a Q-tip or wet tissue to make them go the bathroom. Their mom's do this by licking them, which I'm not keen on doing. :D If you don't do it, they will become sick because they have to be stimulated to go, just like nature intended. Anyway, hope that's not TMI. As I was saying, here he is after eating and pooping...all tuckered out and ready to sleep.
