Researchers form the Columbia University Medical Center analyzed 22 popular products and found that 55 percent of the brands contain gluten though the labels say otherwise.

Dr. Peter Green, director of the Celiac Disease Center said, “We see a lot of patients [with celiac] and we have a lot of patients who have it and don’t feel better. We found previously that about 25% of celiac patients use supplements or non-traditional medical products, and probiotics were the largest and most frequently consumed. Those people [who used probiotics] had more symptoms compared to people who weren’t taking these supplements.”

I don't think supplements are tested for making sure they contain what they say. A recent expose proved this. I wouldn't believe what any label says for any type of supplement. No need for anyone on this plan to take a probiotic. Eat lots of fruits and veg and your body makes it's own.

Probiotic manufacturers have to disclose on the label that probiotics are not approved by any regulatory agency for diagnosis or treatment of any disease. They are classified (in the US) as supplements, rather than drugs.

Whether they do any good or not is debatable at best. Some people say they work, and some say they don't.

I personally see no need for them as my digestive system works perfectly well on the McDougall plan:).
