How we Assume things

Postby Acura » Fri Apr 17, 2015 1:39 pm

We all have at some point assumed stuff without knowing whether it is true or not.Based on what somebody might have said, based on their body pasturing, we imagine and assume things which may be totally incorrect.
This can cause lot of agony and pain for something that might be diametrically opposite of what you think.

I'm sure there is some good book/read out there which zooms in on this and more. Does anyone know?

It is easy to reevaluate our assumptions without using any book. Just start analyzing the brainwashing we got from our parents, relatives, schools, friends, spouses, government, media, corporations, churches, non profits, our own memories, the cells that form our minds, etc. It is important to be skeptical about health claims. It is also useful to compare with other worldviews like those from hunter gatherers, indigenous groups, etc. to think outside of the unsustainable civilizations and unsustainable empires. It is also useful to compare with other lifeforms like bacteria, archaea, fungi, etc.

There's a book called The Four Agreements. It may or may not be what you're looking for.

You might find these books cover this topic very well. "You are not so smart", and "You are now less dumb" http://youarenotsosmart.com/
They are fascinating and entertaining reads, I'm almost finished the second one. It's really got me rethinking many things.

My favorite book on body language is called Body Language, and the author is Julian Fast. It was written in the 70s, but I don't believe anything's "new" in human posturing since then! I read this book in the early 90s and thought it was amazing.
