Plant Based online cooking course

Postby Werner1950 » Wed Apr 15, 2015 8:24 am

Does anyone know of an online plant-based cooking course? I'd be interested in making this a hobby this summer. I already know of the one being offered by Forks over knives. Any others out there that you know of?

HI

You can select classes from these free online cooking lessons. Although they are not specifically whole foods plant based, you can select classes like : handling knives, cooking with vegetables, cooking with fruits, cooking without oil, using herbs and spices, etc

DOH !

It seems you forgot to post a link. Which free online cooking lessons?

The post is unclear if "cooking" refers to the desire for basic learning like Dr. McDougall offers, or an online culinary school. If the later, here is a link to a reasonably priced plant-based cooking course with over 1 hundred lectures for about $300. Not necessarily low-fat plant-based, but an excellent looking course.

Sorry Doctor McDougall, I should have specified in my header I was looking for an online COOKING course. :)
I made the correction.

PlantBasedKatie (dot com) has an online culinary boot camp. She does cooking classes at True North Health Center so her style is compatible with McDougalling, though in addition to being oil-free they are salt and refined sugar-free. I haven't done the boot camp, but heard about her from Howard Jacobson/sen's PlantYourself dot com podcast.

Thanks so much, Dr. McDougall! I have been waiting for a CME credit course. That's great news!

On the original subject, how about McDougall made easy? Great video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swqYBYhkEbc

And Whole Foods has some great videos showing how to blanch, steam, steam-fry, etc that are WFPB friendly: http://media.wholefoodsmarket.com/video-library/videos/health-starts-here-videos/healthy-cooking-101-steam-frying

Also if you want to learn how to cook delicious oil free Indian meals, go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP8G4n5K3iQ, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq9gPMftMMI and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNuhjdDon4A, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqYuM3Ak3GI and for a more challenging recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckXKNodRxwk

For the last recipe for Paratha, do not use yogurt raita, but rather try this chutney as an accompaniment to the paratha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4r0Mzm1Hbk

I second StarchHEFP's suggestion for the McDougall Made Easy dvd. Love it. While not an online course, Jeff Novick's Fast Food dvds (sold here on the McDougall site) are great, especially if you're like many of us who aren't so much interested in the more complicated, time-consuming recipes. Jeff's first fast food video will get a meal on the table in 10 minutes.
