That's a great piece of work by John and Craig. Why wasn't this made front page news in the New York Times?

The full provisional study itself: Effects of 7 days on an ad libitum low-fat vegan diet:the McDougall Program cohort: http://www.nutritionj.com/content/pdf/1 ... -13-99.pdf

Normally, I would say fantastic results, considering that many were taken off medications at baseline (usually you would see a detrimental increase in values due to the abrupt ending of medications). But in fact I think I'll just say, the results were typical and expected for this type of nutritional intervention

Congrats Dr's McDougall! Sweet and simple...and a very easy to read paper :D (Though maybe I would have stressed a bit more the starched centeredness of the program, especially in the title)

Sorry, there's no room in the news for this study. On google news today (oct 15) there is a whole page on how the Mediterranean Diet, as per the study done in Spain, can greatly improve heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The answer is to pour olive oil all over everything.

This coupled with the disturbing news that potatoes are not, after all, good birth control devices, more or less sounds the death knell for starches.

Male 563 (34.9)
Female 1052 (65.1)

very interesting, but not surprising, to see that women are nearly twice as likely to visit the McDougall Clinic from this research.

7 days to change biomarkers. 7 days to show proof. Why is this so hard to get people to try? A week is nothing- most people try multiple crash diets for longer. Heck, I committed to 3 weeks a year and a half ago and dropping the depression in week 1 kept me compliant and has stalled any new autoimmune issues. Great study, hope some folks are encourage to try- I will share with anyone who shows the slightest spark of interest.

When your eyes are open you see this information all around you. When your eyes are closed you never see it.
We have a lot of open eyes around here.
