1.3 billion pounds of excess cheese

Postby Skip » Fri Aug 26, 2016 5:50 am

Will we as a society ever accept the fact that cheese is not healthy for us? Doesn't look like it........(caution: this may turn into another one of those political threads)

And think about how many pounds of grains and such were fed to the cows to create all that cheese, let alone the cheese surplus. And whats the number one methane producer in the world? You got it...cows...what climate change?

Vegan smythe has an excellent, light hearted series of youube videos, one is called 'couldn't give up my cheese'.

I've been off and on the McDougall diet for about 2 years. I am currently back to trying to resume a vegan diet . Surprisingly, to me I found that I do not miss cheese at all. In fact, the only diary I haven't been able to give up (yet) is the coffee creamer in my morning coffee. That huge mound of cheese is just nauseating to me.

The caption says:
Record dairy production in the U.S. has produced a record surplus of cheese,

Not a good sign. I wonder how much of that is due to the increase in vegetarians. I think my dairy intake increased after giving up meat and before adopting this lifestyle.

I don't have to be concerned as I'm allergic to dairy. Interesting that I grew up on dairy farm. Took me until I was 40 to figure that out.

Cheese seems so disgusting when you haven't eaten it in three years like I have. In fact consuming the lactation fluids and products made from them of other species of mammals and after weaning seems like a really odd thing that humans practice. Whats funny is that the same people who think drinking cows milk is normal and I used to be one of them...would think it very abnormal to drink dogs milk or cat milk...lol.

Not a chance. As soon as I contradict somebody's post, the thread will be shut down for flaming. Like all food topics, this has no political implications at all. Just eat more starch, and all your problems are solved.

On one of the NPR game shows this morning I heard mention of addictive effects of cheese. Glad to hear the message is permeating through the culture. Some day this will be common knowledge and we will wonder why we didn't accept this earlier.
Till then, remember, cheese is crack!
