For the last two weeks, or so, I have to Log In EVERY TIME I come to the board, even tho' I check the "remember me" box, as I have always done in the past.

Hi, Clary.

Since you haven't gotten any responses, I would guess that no one else is seeing the problem. You might want to check that you have "cookies" enabled in your browser. Look in your "Preferences" or "Settings" and look for a check box labeled "Cookies enabled" or "Cookies disabled". It may be under a tab labeled "Privacy". It's hard to say exactly where it is since there are a lot of different browser programs that don't all manage their settings in the same way.

If you mention which browser you use ("Internet Explorer", "Firefox", and "Safari" are few popular examples), one of the techies who is familiar with it may be able to direct you to the spot to check.

I hope this helps...
Tom

Well, I just saw your other message on this topic with responses from Melinda and Nancy. Sounds like Melinda is seeing the problem while Nancy is not. I'd still check your cookies setting, but it might also be something to do with the website. I hope you get an answer, Clary.

Tom--
OK... The log in problem continues, intermittently. I think I have figured out the WHEN, but not the WHY, or HOW to correct it.

It seems connected that after I come back to the McDougall Board, any time AFTER I visit the FaceBook website, I have to Log In again.
:?:

I have had difficulties with log-in also. Especially after the initial sign up. Kept having to change my password but then couldn't log in. Finally I figured it out: If I log in immediately, no problem--it lets me in; but if I read posts for awhile first, and then try to log in, I get a message saying that I'm using the wrong password or user name. I have to totally exit the website (not just the forum), and then come back and log in.

If I follow a link and am not prompt in coming back, I have found that I have been logged off. I don't know how much time transpires before this occurs.

Ever since the board was upgraded I'm never logged in automatically, and many times my user name and password aren't retained and I have to type it in manually.

On the old board, if you hit the Read my private messages link instead of login it would automatically log you in and take you to the forum index, but that's not an option now.

And I can't find the cookie in my list of cookies. I use Firefox and have a plug-in where I can protect a cookie so it doesn't get deleted. I can't find any cookie from either drmcdougall.com or sonic.net to protect.

Any idea what's happening or how to actually stay logged in? I'm running Windows 98 (stop laughing!) and using Firefox 2.0.0.2.

Thanks.
