I'm "gardening" again!

One of my sons-in-law gave me a small 4" potted basil plant for my Aug. 25th birthday. I brought it home and poked a fertilizer stick in the potting soil around it, watered it, put a saucer under it, and placed in on the deep window sill of my sunny west window.

Today, I needed to transplant it to a 6" pot! It has grown quite a bit in these few days, and the little roots came through the bottom of the little plastic commercial container already.

Guess it likes its new home!

He told me to just keep plucking the biggest leaf off when I wanted to use from it, and that it will continue to replenish and grow.

Oh yum. Grab yourself a tomato and some balsmatic vinegar and enjoy.

I tried your suggestion yesterday--raw tomatoes, chunked and stuffed into toasted whole wheat pita bread along with mixed greens that I had added several leaves of the chopped basil to, then sprinkled with dark balsamic vinegar, and topped with a few shakes of Lemon Pepper "Mrs. Dash". Yum!

The more I pinch off the leaves and use them, the fuller the plant grows with new leaves.

Nice combo isn't it. I just spinkle with S&P.
