I never thought of using a pressure cooker-type pot for the food! INTERESTING!!!
Personally, I like something that I can see through (even if it is not as efficient as some other pots). That way, I can tell how the food is doing with just a quick glance -- without having to stop what I am doing at the time and without having to open the cooker. You are right, the amount of heat lost by opening the cooker (and shutting it quickly after checking the food) is not an extremely large amount -- BUT opening the cooker, especially more than once, DOES MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE ON MARGINALLY SUNNY DAYS! (I know from experience!)
Again, thanks for your idea about using a pressure cooker! That sounds like a WINNER!
I believe we McDougallers can have a loud enough voice to influence enough people to cut back on livestock consumption/farming that we CAN have a positive impact on global warming -- if we REALLY try!
