Possible Diverticulitis

Postby BettyHedstrand » Thu Apr 03, 2014 11:29 am

Since becoming plant based last September I have gone off of a statin drug. My internist told me my blood results last week were phenomenal (cholesterol panel). However, recently I have been having upper left quadrant pain that I think is from a duodenal diverticulum. Surprised to get this type of a problem considering how much fiber I consume on a daily basis. I have not pursued any testing yet to determine if it is diverticulitis or a duodenal ulcer. Any thoughts on how to alter my diet to calm down this area?

Congrats on your good bloodwork.

I don't have it, but I did look up natural remedies for my past digestive problems and found that turmeric is a good remedy. Also Aloe Vera Juice as it's anti-inflammatory. You could try consuming those? Apparently drinking apple cider vinegar is good for diverticulitis.

Up your water intake. Drink rooibos tea, miso soup and ginger tea.
